  1. Hi, When rendering files with the h264 codec, does it matter whether they are Quicktime files (mov extension) or mp4 files (mp4 extension)? Will Watchout use its native multithreaded decoding methods in either case, or will this only be done if the extension is mp4? thanks

    HAP Version

Hi All Can someone please give me a definitive answer at to which version of HAP works with 6.1.6 when creating content? I have been told to use v9 by some people and v12 is ok by others. Thanks in advance Nev.
  3. Hi guys, Was wondering if anyone has experience using HAP as a codec within Watchout, particularly if hardware accelerated decoding is supported? I've noticed this on the Watchout 6 features page and the codec itself looks very promising. Although I see the limitations in hardware accelerated decoding, it could be very useful for some projects where primary considerations are a high / lossless bitrate and excellent performance. Experiences anyone? Floris

    Codec / Maximum Resolution

Hi! In the end of month I have show that needs 3 projectors blend... I will use 3x Barco HDX-W20 Flex (1920x1200) that I will blend to 5333x1200 px. Problem I have is that I can't render H264 MP4 in that resolution... Max that I get is 4096x920. Quicktime is even more limited - max width is 2000px. Is there any codec that I can use to get such resolution? Best regards, Piotrek, Poland
  5. It is so that I have a film sequence in the format .mp4, and has a resolution of 3840 x 1606th When I play this on two screens via watchout so do not float on the film. The hacks. Why? Something with the codec I guess. I have an Intel Core i5 with 20GB of RAM so it should not be a problem? Grateful for help Sincerely Mathias

    MP4 AVC1 support?

Hi, I know Watchout handles h264 decoding natively, but I have been told this is not true for "AVC1" type files. It seems to be the case that Adobe Media Encoder now only encodes mp4 files as AVC1 . (Confirmed by checking codec details in VLC, which reports codec type H264-MPEG-4-AVC (part 10) (avc1) , and also in quicktime player, which reports codec type as "AVC Coding", rather than "H264") Is there indeed an issue with native support for AVC1 type H264 files in Watchout? If so, does anyone happen to know how to get current versions of Media Encoder to encode MP4 files with a different media subtype, without any restrictions on frame size? thanks
  8. 'WATCHOUT-codec for stable WATHOUC playback-2012.pdf' has a look at this information. Frame-rate 23.98/24 fps is a very poor choice, for clips intended for 50 or 60 Hz displays At worst, will result in severe sutttering of the video content. 23.94/24fps is a poor choice, because WATCHOUT did not support 2:3 pulldown? Does it have other symptoms in addition to stuttering? (For example, halt Display server.. lost video signal..etc)
  9. Hello i hope anyone can help me because i cant really understand the source of my problems , Im using following Setup as Display Computer: W7 64bit Service Pack1 Intel Xeon E5440 @2x 2.83GHz 16Gb ram NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700 4095MB and 512MB Video *************************************** I want to play 7 DIFFERENT Videos on this Display Computer with one Full-HD projector. The reason why i have 7 videos is because i have to map them with the Corners Tween to 7 different canvases. All together they are one full-HD video but they are splitted for the mapping. They got following Formats: 232x1080, 214x1080, 196x1080, 636x1080,196x1080, 214x1080, 232x1080 all together 1920x1080. So in the Timeline i need 7 Layers for the videos. MY PROBLEM is now that some videos freeze after a few seconds or they starting late but never really together. If Im using just one video and duplicate it 7 Times theres no Problem. Also with less videos like 3 or 4 there are no lags. With more layers and more different videos the Problem getting worse. I connected the network cable directly to the display computer without switch. No better result. I tried some different CODECs and bitrate but the Problem is more or less but still there. With Mpeg2 20Mbit/s it takes very long on the display computer to load the frame at curser position but then the videos playing good together. With Quicktime H264 and Mpeg4 its loading faster but the playback of some videos freeze after a few seconds or starting late and not together. Witch Video is freezing is quite random i cant see there a rule or something. My best result with a minimum of lags with: Quicktime with H264 or Mpeg4 or Directly H264 with a bitrate about 10Mbit/s. With more than 7 layers its getting worse again. The DURATION of of my testing Footage was 30 sec and 60 sec but theres was no difference. Low detailed footage with lot of whitespace starts and plays without lags. I tested some different pre roll times with no better result. For me it looks like a synchronisation Problem but at all I don't know really where the problem is. The freeze of the videos seams really random for me. Sometimes a video plays well, next time its freezed for a few seconds and than jumps and plays well again with the other videos. I hope i can show you some video of the effect in the next days. Is there anything i can do or try so i dont have to lower bitrate or use less videos? All together are "just" full HD. I hope anyone can help me Thanks and best regards Johannes

    Medialooks Watermark

Hello Everyone Does anyone else has the Problem when playing quicktime files in a show, such as .mov or mp4. that there is a medialooks watermark in the upper left corner of the video. Medialooks provides some sort of Quicktime Plug-in for Windows, as far as i understand! According to Medialooks this is the explanation: QuickTime Plugin is a free DirectShow player plugin for playing back QuickTime files. Currently the QuickTime Plugin will work with Windows Media Player, Winamp, BS.Player, Media Player Classic, KM Player and Zoom Player. For other applications a MediaLooks logo will be displayed. We are open to adding support to other, preferrably non-commercial, applications by request I'm running WO 5.1 on a Windows 7 PC. Can anyone of you guys guess what the problem could be and how i can get rid of this watermark? many thanks! harrison
