Timeline Orientation and Usage - Little issues (and simple?) Issues I can't seem to resolve

Hello there!

Again, I have 2 situations that I cannot resolve and Im sure they were discussed.

First;

I am on a main Timeline with several Layers, Control Cues, JPGs, Movies, ETC...

The top-most  layer is a PNG Mask layer (it's the size of the display, it will be there the whole time, won't move but will just be there stretched for the whole duration of the timeline)

I would now like to tweak and better center the images below

This is my problem

Whenever I try to move an image, it'll try to select the top-most layer. I tried locking, It wont really help.

The only workaround is turning the top-most off -> tweak -> turning it back on... kinda beating the purpose :(

My other problem;

My timeline is long and packed with Cues and images.

If I would like to jump to the middle of it and make tweaks it's very time consuming to select all the content from the middle to the end in order to "make space" tweak and bring back.

The reason its time consuming is that I need to be pretty much "zoomed in"

(In my situation, when I am zoomed out I will select a lot of unnecessary Cues and create a mess... - My cues are sometimes holding long texts)

Is there a way or shortcut to select everything RIGHT of the CTI (Current time indicator) on  timeline?

THANKS!

Adam

Preview > Click Selects Frontmost Image

I can't help but feel like this is a workflow challenge? Could you be a little more specific with what your trying to accomplish?

Are you locked to timcode? If not I think a lot of your headache may be eliminated by dumping some of the stuff on your timeline out to tasks.

Hey Adam,

Under the Preview menu you can deselect the 'Click selects Frontmost Image" option and then whatever you've selected in the timeline will get stay selected when you click in the stage window.

Pressing Control-E will select everything to the right of the current time. I think somewhere on the forum there is an image that Show Sage created of all the keyboard shortcuts, I can't seem to find it at the moment though.

Hope that helps!

Andy

1) Have you tried to put your mask image on an Auxiliary Timeline instead?

    Easy to turn on/off and are always on top of the Main Timeline,

    especially if Stacking Order -> "Always on Top" is selected. P209/153 in the manual

2) Ctrl + E does exactly that. P128 in the manual.

FYI, WATCHOUT 6 includes a new command called "Insert/Delete Time", which helps in such situations. It allows you to explicitly specify the amount to instert and can optionally move cues and/or tween points to accomodate the specified amount of time.
