Display computer transferring files not needed for display.

I am working with a system of five display computers. One of the computers is transferring files that it does not need for the show. This in turn, is filling the hard drive. Every time I go online the computer wants to transfer files that it has no room to store. This computer is not displaying any of the files it wants to transfer.

I have tried updating the cache with no change.

Any ideas or thoughts welcome.

Thanks

Apologies, Yes we are currently running watchout 6. The problem was indeed Live Update. We were doing a dome alignment in a show file that contained all the content. Easily solved by working from a stripped back file with the stage and alignment images only. Then copy the aligned stage into the show files.

Thanks for the update.

To be clear, after you turn live update off,

you will want to delete the corresponding show folder

from all the display computers (since the unneeded files are already there).

Then restore the show from Produciton with live update OFF.

You must be diligent in keeping Live Update off

to prevent the repopulation of the unneeded files.

I believe you are implying Live Update was needed

to adjust geometry settings in WATCHOUT displays diaogs.

That should not be the case.

Geometry adjustments have always been live updated since their introduction,

even in v5 and earlier where the Live Update feature is not available.,

geometry changes are "live updated"

Live Update applies to live display of changes made in timeline cues,

That is the part that is new to v6

So you should not have to go through the steps

of copying the adjustments from one show to another,

if you are diligent about leaving live update off.

i.e. work in the manner that was the only option for the last 15 years ;)

For 3D mapping alignment, I've found I was forced to turn live update on, is that not the case? Am I doing something wrong?

That's correct. For 3D projection mapping you need to turn live mode on.

But maybe you can disable the output of the computer which you do not need for your mapping while you do your alignment. Then, after aligning, you can turn live mode off again.

So to clear this up a bit, Yes we were projection mapping a dome from the outside with 4 projector and Live Update needed to switched on to allow us to get 6 points of Alignment in the Calibration tab on each projector. We were behind on an install and I forgot that Live Update will send all files to all display machines.

This was the root of my problem.

As a work around to a very heavy show file populated by 13 other images being projected by 20 projectors playing a 27-minute show, I opened our original presentation file and performed the 3d projector calibration inside that file and then copied the adjustments over to the show file with all the tweens and cues. Not the best work flow for getting the show up and running but sometimes things do not go as planned!
