recomended graphic card

Well, I guess that depends a lot on what you expect by "recommended".

Many here will share what worked for them.

"That and 2 bucks will get you a cup of coffee"

i.e. if you choose a card that someone indicates was successful in their build,

and it does not work, that is between you and your hardware vendor.

No support is implied by such "recommendations'.

More important than hardware choices is software choices and their "tuning".

For example, the

AMD FirePro W9100 and the AMD FirePro W7100 are good six and four output choices.

With proper driver version, proper OS tuning and Windows 7 - many people have had good success.

With the same hardware and Widows 10 running WATCHOUT Display with multiple outputs - failure.

This is why Dataton offers complete solutions with hardware support - WATCHMAX, WATCHPAX 2 and WATCHPAX 4

Additionally, many WATCHOUT Premium Partners have been building and tuning WATCHOUT computers

for many years, and offer full WATCHOUT specific support on their offerings.

thank you for your answer.

i did buy the w9100 , but i don't believe i'll be able to get win7. ...

Not sure why. It is still supported by Microsoft (through 2020)

and is available as a no charge downgrade for any Windows 8 Pro or Windows 10 Pro license holder.

Hi Pablo, please review the discussion about multi output below.

Watchout can only OUTPUT from 1 Graphics card.

WATCHOUT Multi-output

WATCHOUT Multi-output ONLY works with one graphics card.

That one graphics card may have up to six (6) outputs, provided the graphics card vendor
includes driver support for multiple outputs under DirectX/Direct3D in 3D mode.
All outputs MUST be the same resolution AND refresh rate.

Irrespectively the number of connectors, DisplayPort or MiniDisplayPort, all outputs over two (2) “legacy” connectors,
VGA/DVI/HDMI, MUST use ACTIVE DP/MiniDP—>DVI/HDMI adapters, passive will NOT work.

There are 2 different types of ACTIVE DP/MDP-adapters, Single-Link DVI and Dual-Link DVI:

Single-Link DVI - cheaper, resolution up to 1920x1200, powered from the DP/MDP-connector

Dual-Link DVI - more expensive, resolution up to 2560x1600, powered from separate USB or external PSU.

Since version 6.1 the displays can have different resolutions but NOT different frame rates.

See the release notes:

  • Displays connected to the same display computer can now have different resolutions.

Using multiple outputs with different graphics cards some change with version 6?

Thanks for the information, I'll try to find a current board with 6 outputs.

If you have any suggestions, I thank you.

if you need high performance, and work with sync module, W9100 is your choice.

w600 also work for 6 outputs with Watchout, but performance not as good as W9100.

You have to TEST the performance before the show!

Depending on the vendor, the RX480 can drive up to 5 outputs.  I'm running a Sapphire RX480 8G and it has 2 x DP, 2 x HDMI2.0 and 1x DVI DL. I've gotten 5 x 1080p outs no problem, and 2 x 4k30. But no support for the S400 sync module though (not an issue with our uses, but may be necessary for yours)

Very good! This graphics card has the lowest price between 8 GB.

Hi all, sorry to resurrect a very old thread but can anyone confirm whether this is still the case, you can only output from 1x GPU with watch out.

Many Thanks

Confirmed. It is a result of WATCHOUT’s dependence on aging underlying technology - DirectX Multi-output. WATCHOUT will need to move on to newer technology to change this, which is planned and underway. When that will come to fruition remains a mystery.
