  1. A method I have used in the past for this is to create a PSD file. Through Trial and error you can do the geometry offsets in photoshop rather than doing it in watchout. Once you have "mapped" the 18 windows you can than up date chnge or build new PSd files as you need. Alternatively you can look at the Geometry tab in your outputs and try to warp and bend there.
  2. This might already be here but I would love the ability to change the timeline(s) from Minutes seconds to Time code or Frames etc.
  3. We are using 2 servers for the wall but in a main and back up scenario. They have sync cards in them but are only syncing their own outputs rather than daisy chaining. We are using NDI scanconverter not NDI /HX (not mac compliant). It turns out Scan converter will not give you frame rate accurate outputs the dropping frames just gets amplified by the size of the wall The entire network is gigabit though not a mangaed switch All Cat6 cables We did testing with powerpoint later this week and were equally disapointed with the results. While the whole Video over IP thing is a really good idea there seems to be too many competing Technologies. NewTek need to improve scanconverter Thats my 2 cents Ben
  4. I recently had to bring in a keynote presentation into a Watchout show. Using NDI scan converter for mac the NDI stream was not frame accurate. We are presenting on a large LED wall so we had to use a 4K keynote for pixel accuracy. This is essentially a road show so I need a better solution. Would you use a 4K HDMI to NDI capture box or Would you use a 4K HDMI to Usb capture card? Installing 4K capture in our servers is currently not an option. Magewell $K usb capture is a thought but I am intrigued by NDI The presentation in Keynote is critical and a switcher is not inline between Watchout and the LED processors. Any thoughts are welcome
  5. Hi I am being asked to consult on an exhibition piece and am wondering if it is possible to use an external audio device with Watchpax 20 , 4 or Watchpax 60. I have used Watchpax 20s in the past and as you are locked out of much of the operating system how would you install drivers for any such device? I would also like a recommendation of such a device for those units as USB audio interfaces don't all work on all motherboards etc. Thanks Ben

  8. Hello I am experiencing a strange behaviour on watchpax 20s. I have 2 (main and back up) feeding a 4K wide LED wall and Audio is playing from the watchpax 20. Its for a large Trade show Booth where the show runs all day for weeks. We do have a Production computer still connected rather than leave the watchpaxes in a standalone mode. (this also allows us to make changes and updates if necessary) After an undefinable amount of time the video sequences loop but audio drops. Meaning no audio is coming out. A restart fixes this issue but the point of using the watchpaxes was that we hoped it would run all day everyday. All videos are separated from their audio track and they are in sync. Any thoughts Ben
  9. Our Process At FMAV uses a Lightware DVI router between the display machines and the cabling to the projectors. This allows us to program a good EDID regardless of what may happen in either cable or at the projector end.

  11. Hi Unfortunately that's not an option. The OBJ file and the flattened video files are created by the clients content team. I really am just looking for advice on where and how to pick my calibration points. I seem to need quite a few before calibration actually works but then it seems to interfere with itself?
  12. Hello I have a large mapping project coming up. We have been doing extensive tests on a 1/10th scale model of the scenic piece. I have mapped on cars in the past using the 3d OBj technique. So I am familiar with the approach. However I am finding it very difficult to align my projections to the set. I can align some of the projection but not completely snapped perfectly. I spend hours tuning the projections and find It less than perfect all the time I find I don't always understand what calibration points interact with what. I am not able to isolate small areas and lock them in place without skewing the projection some where else. I am wondering if other users have tips and tricks for doing this. How can i use the numbers in the position window to my advantage better. We are hitting the set piece with 2 4K 35000 lumen projectors. I am unable to attach a rendered png of the object but it is a series of "boxes" with a 11 by 20 flat screen inserted. Any tips are welcome Ben Chaisson Lead Watchout engineer FMAV central Branch Toronto
  13. Hi I have Mapped to 3 cars from a certain South Korean Manufacturer using 3d. It was a steep learning curve but entirely doable. 3 projectors per car. three to mapp to the floor of each instalation and 2 for Upstage of each car. I have a very large mapping project coming up using 3D mapping on a large set piece for a large Canadian Tele-com company. We are also building a stock of scenic pieces and #D objects for future use. All this to say that 3d is very much alive for our purposes Ben Chaisson Lead Watchout Engineer FMAV
  14. Hello Just upgraded to 6.2.1 from 6.2.0 I am running a few simple tests. I have found that Watchout is not seeing the audio embeded on a HAP file that i used with the previous version fine I realise the work around is to split off a seperate wav file but I am curious why its not working. I had the opposite problem in 6.2.0 where Watchout did not read or recognize audio on a pro res file Now the pro res audio is playing but the Hap is not. I re encoded the pro res to Hap through adobe media encoder and the quicktime HAP codec. Cheers Ben Watchout tech FMAV
  15. Hello All Often times my company is hired to present large LED walls for large activations. We use Watchout to drive the wall. Our clients then will have a social media aggregate that can be customizable. These Social media apps are essentially web pages that could be built to the pixel size of the wall. Can I bring in a webpage as a media item if I take Watchout on to the internet? Is the Network video media item only for Streams? Cheers B
  16. Hi Many USB midi devices have both the usb and 5 pin din connector so you can run the main via usb and the back up via midi using another USB to midi device. In our case we use an APC20 connected to the main via usb and on the back up we have an M audio uno conneted to the backup and then the midi out port of the APC is connected to the midi in of the uno. Cheers Ben
  17. Hi I am looking at watchpax as a signage solution and exhibition solution. I intend to use it on large LED walls that exceed the normal 1920 wide pixel space I am curious if watchpax can maintain sync over its outputs rather than a server with s400 card any thoughts welcome Cheers Ben
  18. Hello I am having trouble getting 4 MP4 video files to sync on a very large LED wall. The files are built at 50 fps because some of the content in side the content is european. We have Show Sage Built watch rack computers with the s400 sync card installed and working. All 4 files are coming off 1 machine with 4 heads. We are Emulating a 1920 by 1200 EDID at 50 hz. Watchout is connected to a Light ware 8X8 DVI router than fed DVI to 4 Image pros2 then fed to the LED Brain We have tried setting watchout to 75 fps and also custom at 50fps with no luck. I feel it is the H264 codec but would like to confirm or deny this. We have asked the agency to send us Pro res files to compare. Would HAP be a better choice? B Chaisson Playground Studios
  19. Hi I have often felt there is a need for a "deep clip board" in WO. The ability to store things that i often recall in regards to tweens. This position tween, this opacity tween, these colour or tint parameters. Its fine to copy one thing from one piece of media to another or even several but sometimes a show requires different but similar programming for various pieces of content. Can you copy tween info to a simple text file and then simply recall it? Is there something within WO that could achieve this?
  20. Steff We started experiencing this as well. On a multi-Track wav file.
  21. Hi My company is looking into taking an Rtsp or Rtmp 360 video stream and re mapping it to watch out to display on four walls of a room The stream is 4K We would map it to 4 1080p screens Is the Dynamic image server the right method? How to import the stream? Any and all advice appreciated
  22. Hi We are experiencing a strange occurance we play a 1920 by 1080 30fps Pro res file it appears as if the left side has 10 pixels or so of chatter or garbage. anythoughts It doesn't happen on the production computer it only happens while playing on the display computers Any Thoughts Ben
  23. Hi I have a client that wants to map a car and change the content on the car on a daily or hourly basis. They dont want to do this onsite. I was wondering if my idea seems feasible. I want to put the content in a dropbox. Have the Production computer on auto update and auto refresh. Pull the content in from dropbox folder Have them make changes on at their office and they keep the file names the same Or is there another VNC option i should investigate? Cheers Ben Chaisson FMAV
  24. Hi To Be Clear I'm editing Geometric points in the display dialogue I don't understand why 0 should fire the main timeline in that box as the spacebar does not. I'll also add that when i attempt to add media using the add media drop down menu it crashes watchout severely. I have solved my long caching problem by replacing my Production computer. Live update crashes 1 of my display computers rendering that function useless Ben

    Bugs

Hi We are installed in a theatre using Version 6 for the first time. We are very familiar with 5. We are wondering if these are software bugs or our particular set up issues. Issue 1: When programming in the display info boxes if i Type 0 in a point to reset changes the numeric keyboard triggers the main timeline. This is as you can imagine extremely frustrating. Issue 2 : Some new media takes hours to cache when adding to the main timeline . Simple PSD files of less than 100MB will not care or seemingly stall upon cacheing. What could be wrong? Ben Chaisson
