Hi there,
we are shooting a tv series in switzerland and want to feed our Insight 4k quad from digital projection with footage which is in ProRes 422 10 Bit UHD (4k) with 50 fps. We use the rear projection method instead of greenscrean to get real reflections in the surfaces that are infant of the projection..
So we already tried out a media server from 7th sense, but i was very unhappy with workflow, so now i want to try out whatchout an i am wondering if i could get realtime playback with good performance with our editing workstation, here are the specs:
HP Z640 Workstation, CPU E5-2643 v3 3.40 GHz (2 Processor), 64.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan X (12GB RAM), Windows 10
first question is, do you think this setup could work for 4k 50fps? Any codec suggestions(i heard pro res would´t be good for playback, maybe .tga? We want to have it as uncompressed as possible since we film from that projection and don't want to get weird artefacts..
Second question:
We have Ambient Timecode which is able to give out genlock signal, so now i´m thinking about to get a new graphics card since the gtx doesn't support genlock via bnc input..
Third question:
I think i would need a fast drive solution for the media, any suggestion on that? internally ssd RAID?
I would be very happy for every helpful comment, i´m new here by the way
