  1. I have a WatchOUT 7 license (3 of them, actually). I wasn't having any issues with other NotchLC videos. I wish I could send a copy of the video. Client test files, I can't share. If I can replicate the issue with another file, I will gladly share. I can guess what's happened... it would not be the first time someone's grabbed a random (or even popular/well known) codec pack and output bad videos.
  2. That's odd because I had the license connected and I had no issues with any other files at the time. Appreciate the reply. For now, I'll just keep an eye out for anything odd and not bother my clients about their workflow.
  3. I am not sure what NotchLCOpaque is. I have WatchOUT 7 licenses. QuickTime reports the file as NotchLC and will play it just fine. I was able to re-encode the video to NotchLC with After Effects and the resulting file works great. I am wondering what might have happened on the render side. Google searching "NotchLCOpaque" returns zero hits. Would save me a lot of re-encoding time if I can correct this before the full content delivery! Thanks!
  4. Hello. It would be very nice if the Folder spin-down triangle would change color if/when you are running a timeline that lives in that folder. White = nothing in that folder is active. Red = something in that folder is active. I find myself having to jump around folders during rehearsals and I spend a lot of time trying to figure out which Aux Timelines are still running because they're hidden inside a spun-up folder. Folders are awesome! Makes my life SOOO much easier - except for this one thing! (it is always possible there is already a way to know, and I've just missed it...) Thanks!
  5. I have two Aux Timelines. Timeline 1 is my background and has Command Cues to load and then roll Timeline 2. Timeline 2 is my "pip" overlay. If I hit the Stop button manually (red box turns to outline, "pre-roll"?) and then Play Timeline 2 everything works fine. If I do the same thing with Control Cues set to pause (red box outline) and then Play Timeline 2 everything breaks. Timeline 2 lags and refuses to start correctly. My Opacity tween is gone, the video starts about 2 seconds in and just jumps into frame. I cannot get Commend Cues to roll Aux Timelines without this issue. The pause and roll Command Cues are 5 seconds apart so I am well outside the Pre-Roll time. I don't understand why a manual roll works but using Command Cues does not.
  6. This has been an issue for me in WatchOUT for as long as I can remember. I don't have this issue with any other media server. The fix has always been to just play around with pause points and pre-roll times (setting manual, longer pre-roll has helped) but I have never found a solid, consistent solution for this issue in WatchOUT.
  7. I can drop any video into any editing software and get the same frame count every time and get the same frame count from the other media servers. If my show is 24 fps and I am set to 24 fps and my content is 24 fps... What makes frames ambiguous? As far as I know there is no Status for Tasks but maybe I've missed something?
  8. ok, yes, Sorry I was not in front of my machine when I wrote that. Yes I am using Control Cue>Timeline Named "x">Pause to try and pre-load my aux timelines. But a subsequent Play cue and videos don't seem to respond the same way they do if I do the same process manually. I start a new show today and I will try and capture the issue as its happening. Thanks!
  9. I use a lot of aux timelines. I can manually "preload" an aux by hitting the stop button and then roll it using the play button and this works great. WatchOUT performs as expected and everything is smooth. If I fire off an aux without pre-loading it WatchOUT may struggle to play that correctly. But if I use cues to trigger the aux timeline it doesn't behave the same. I place a stop cue to "preload" the aux just like I press stop and then a play cue to roll it. WatchOUT struggles with this as if I never preloaded anything. Visually everything in the Production software looks the same... Button for the aux goes into standby and then it plays but the playback does not perform the same as doing this manually. What am I doing wrong?
  10. I often get videos in two parts and have to play them back to back. I place them on my timeline and put them together. Seems like it should just play as one seamless video But: This almost always results in WatchOUT dropping a frame and showing black before the next video starts. Stepping through the timeline as slowly as possible doesn't show any black. Its only during playback... How do I prevent this?
  11. Everything in video/playback is frames... WatchOUT is the only media server I've used that has no option for frames and the only one that uses 1/1000. Why does WatchOUT use 1/1000 instead of frames?
  12. I am trying to learn how to send/receive messages from WatchOUT but the manual is extremely lacking in anything that could be considered real documentation... are there other resources with better/more complete information? Like examples and samples and not just "hey open a connection and send this command!" cause that tells me nothing... Thanks!
  13. I'm not new to HAP but thank you. I appreciate all the replies but this is all too basic. I've been encoding/using HAP for years and this is the first time I've seen this behavior. I don't use FFMPEG to encode HAP because the quality is poor. Doesn't matter what I do I can't match what AE+disguise render plug in create. I refuse to touch After Codecs. Still trying to figure out what happened. I re-encoded all the videos as HAP and the issue went away. I've also seen this recently with a HAP non-Q file. That was on v6.2.2. Turning off hardware acceleration fixed it. 99% of the time, like every time except this one show HAP has been rock solid. Still trying to figure out what happened!
  14. Hello. I am seeing an issue with HAPQ files where they look very good in VLC and QuickTime but in WatchOUT they are washed out. Sometimes I am seeing thumbnails in WatchOUT and when I do they look fine but video placed on a timeline is washed out. Sometimes I am not seeing any thumbnails in WatchOUT and I am getting a symbol that looks like this ">>>>>>". I have tried two different workflows for rendering HAPQ. First - ProRes source, Resolve edit, output to h264, use QuickTime Pro to encode to HAPQ. Second - ProRes souce, Resolve edit, output to uncompressed yuv422 10 bit avi, use Adobe Media Encoder to encode to HAPQ. Both pipelines have ended with the same result on multiple WatchOUT servers. Conference requested HAPQ but they're having the same issues with the files that I am. Any ideas? Thanks!
  15. I would have called but it was the weekend. Love you guys. The new 4k servers we just got from you are amazing. Many of the other products I work with have live discussion groups/chats through various services so I was checking to see if our community has anything like that. As the operator for the shows I'm on I rarely get a chance to interface with other operators so it would be nice. I'm also severely anti-Facebook and refuse to use my account there.
  16. On the same machine: ASIO works in Production ASIO does not work in Display It's very confusing. But it's enough to get me through show. ASIO didn't work at all on my personal server until I installed ASIO4ALL which makes even less sense since I'm using MOTU's asio and not a4a. The 4k server at the shop setup just fine on both Display and Production so there's something goofy in my personal server. I'll check back if/when I find a solution.
  17. By better I really meant "alternate". Something like a Slack or Discord. Facebook isn't my favorite but I'll take a look at that, thanks!
  18. I installed ASIO4ALL on one machine. Now when I run Production I can get 8 channel audio by selecting MOTU ASIO. If I select Asio4All I get nothing but installing it did something and now the MOTU Asio works. But only in Production. I still get no audio with Display even after matching the settings used in Production. This is starting to make no sense at all.
  19. Do you know the name/brand of a card that works? I'm tired of chaising tails and shooting in the dark HOPING it's going to work. Does anyone know of a card that works with 6.2.2 and Windows 10 and isn't FireWire/Thunderbolt?
  20. There is an ASIO option but it doesn't work. WatchOUT sees it as 14 channels (I'm guessing 6 in, 8 out) but when I select ASIO from the drop down menu I get no audio at all and no way to assign any channels after that. Edit: the card actually has 14 outputs total. I use the card with Reason for multi in/out recording and monitoring.
  21. This is a brand new card driver install. Of course MOTU hasn't updated the drivers for this card since Oct 28 2015. I'm using MOTU Mk3 Ultralight Hybrid. The picture with 6.2.2 is me. Everything is (MOTU Wave for 64bit) [WASAPI]. I can assign audio to only 1 channel pair at a time. I have an ASIO option for the setup (MOTU Audio ASIO (ASIO) last on the list but selecting that results in no audio at all. The picture with 6.0b10 is from Dataton's video. That's the one with all the DirectSound but it has options that make sense. The unit they are using uses the same drivers as the unit I am using. Maybe this video from Dataton is no longer valid? These older MK3 Hybrids basically died a long time ago for WatchOUT use. I was forced to replace them with AudioFire8 cards. I was hoping with the new routing capacity that they'd be back as serviceable... If that's not the situation then I don't mind buying new cards as long as I know they're going to work. I really don't want to install a FireWire card in the server and go back to the Echo AudioFire8. I have not been impressed with the quality of that card. I'd rather buy new audio cards than go that route.
  22. I am using 6.2.2. I've watched the video on how to setup the new audio system with 8 channels and it very much makes sense. But my WatchOUT Display machine doesn't have options for channel 3-4 5-6 and 7-8. I can only assign a "device" and nothing beyond that.
  23. Is there an alternative WatchOUT forum or information someplace?
  24. Still looking for an audio card recommendation. I have four MOTU Mk3 Ultralight Hybrid. They work great for stereo but I can't seem to get 7.1. WatchOUT only sees stereo pairs and can only use 1 set at a time. Windows and WatchOUT used to see the MOTU as a digital output with 8 channels but not anymore. I have four Echo Fire 8. I'm sure those would still work but they're FireWire only and I don't have FireWire anymore. Never would have bought them except they were one of the only 8 channel cards that worked with WatchOUT at the time. I need 7.1 (8 channel) capacity and preferably no Thunderbolt or FireWire. Are there recommended audio cards for WatchOUT?
