"You don't need a special program to power off over the network. WATCHOUT already has a command to do so." But Alex asked for a solution outside of Watchout: "But I'm looking for a way to do all that outside whatchout"

What is better performance between ATI Firepro W7000 or ATI R295X2?
TomT replied to Andrew's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
"is more appropriate" and is much more expensive with less power. "Higher benchmark scores won't help so much in video playback" Thats right, but wasn´t Andrews question. He asked for the perfomance! Maybe he wants to use the computer for other applications too? "it's a professional graphics card, built for stability" Yes, price and the name -FirePro- making this card professional. I build up more than 100 Systems with AMD Radeons, no problems in stability. Two things: If you need performance in OpenGL the Radeon HD is a poor choice. But who needs OpenGL power in the times of DirectX ? If you need an exact Framelock you need FirePro with S400 board. But I never had any problems with synchronicity even in systems with up to 20 Display-Computers. Watchout is doing a good job there. Tom -
Try poweroff.exe, can be used to powerdown via network.

What is better performance between ATI Firepro W7000 or ATI R295X2?
TomT replied to Andrew's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
Hi, a two gpu-card makes no sence in WO. The R9 290x is round about 70% faster then W7000 in PassMark-Benchmark. See : http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?gpu=FirePro+W7000 -
Watchout supports dual-GPU ?

So its a kind of missunderstood. For me the tweaking list always were a list to pimp up my systems, making watchout running better. Just like pimping my car, I don´t need it, but I can do it. (and maybe its better then before) In the past I set up an Windows 7 installation ( in former times XP) installed watchout and quicktime, and everything was working. Maybe not good or really performant, but WO was playing. With V 5.5.1 exactly this behavior has changed, now you have to turn off the wmc, without WO won´t play! This is the difference and in my opinion there should be a description of the the things which have to be done making watchout play, and the things that will raise stabilility and performance. Nevertheless, most important thing is to know this feature Tom

Yes, but it would be helpful to differntiate between "tweaks" and mandatory requirements. A tweak is a tweak not a "must have"

hi altar, this is exactly the problem in WO 5.5.1. when you don´t uninstall the Windows Media Center! I had this problem some weeks before after updating from 5.5. to 5.5.1. In 5.5. everything worked fine, after updating to 5.5.1 this problem occured.

Hi yek, thanks for your answer. I know this thread, but it didn´t answer my questions! To make clear what I´m looking for: - How to change the default midi device in Win7 ? or - How to change the midi-input-device-number in WO ? or - How to let WO listen to all midi Inputs at the same time (like midi-ox can do, so it is possible) ? Regards Tom
-
Hi Mike, afaik it must be the default midi device !?
-
Hi all, as we know there is no possibility to configure the default input device on Win7 just like in WinXP. Afaik, WO always uses the first midi Input device. Any ideas how to change the order of the midi input devices in Win7? or changing the Input device in WO? or (best solution for me) letting WO listening to ALL midi inputs? My Problem: I need to control WO to control with an Android tablet (touchosc) and a keyboard btw. any plan osc to implemented in WO? Thanks in advance! Tom

Automatic start a task, at a specific time of the day
TomT replied to Vollmers's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
No need for an external trigger. With AutoIt you can write a little Script, that emulates pressing the keyboard. If you are not familiar with writing scripts (btw. AutoIt is easy to use with a lot of samples and descriptions from a really huge community) try macro-x, a macro recorder that emulates keyboard- and mouse-actions. I used it to start a specific WO-scene on six display-computers for an outside projection for 6 month and it worked without any problems.- 2 replies

What is the best video card to use with watch out ?
TomT replied to Fritz Davis's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
Thats it! btw. to get more outpouts I tested the Club3D MST Hub. Works fine with DP 1.2. Three passive DP to DVI-Adapters kann be connected and the connected Displays appear as 3 independet screens in Windows. -
Our LWL Adpaters had EDID Manager inside (as far as I remeber, they came from an Audio and Video Company) Codec was Annimation Codec, 25 fps

What is the best video card to use with watch out ?
TomT replied to Fritz Davis's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
Sorry, not really, the 7990 is a two GPU-Card while the R9 290x only has one GPU.(As far as I know). Believing the Benchmarks (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-r9-290-review-benchmark,3659.html) the 290x is more comparable with Nvidia Titan, but much more cheaper. It might be that it isn´t negliable for Watchout use, but even a HD7950 is a perfekt choice for Watchout Displays. -

AMD R9 280X performance is comparable with the HD7970. I think it will not be too Long til there is a R9 290X with 4 x miniDP and 2 DVI like MSI Lighning 7970, or with 4 DP and two DVI like an Asus Matrix 280X -
Last year, presentation of new Audi A3 we run 4k Video with Animation codec on Intel i7 3770 with Asus HD 7970 and Raid 0 SSD-System. Projectors were Barco HD30 via Displayport and LWL.

Echo AudioFire 12 not stable for multi audio output ? help !
TomT replied to MISTERK's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
Did you try to play the file with with a mediaplayer (without watchout) in loop? What happens then after one or two loops? If the sound device will disconnect you know you have to replace the hardware, one after one. Regards Tom -
Another possibility to get resolutions outside the Windows-Standard is to use a Datapath x4. Input is possible up to Dual-Link resolutions. With the software of the x4 you can define size and position of the outputs completely independently. Cheers Tom

Hi Mike, can you explain which problems exact you have noticed and how you found out the relation to vnc? I used tight-vnc for years but never had a problem which I related to vnc, or maybe I didn´t checked it. No I use teamviewer in network mode, what do think about this solution?
