  1. Hello, we need to use 2 simultaneous live video SDI inputs with a ThunderBolt capture card using only 1 port. We saw the BlackMagic Ultrastudio 4K and asked BlackMagic support if this could work, but they said it was not possible because of the bandwith of the ThunderBolt port and because their device dosen't allow this. The only cards they have that do this, are the Declink Duo or Quad. Looking for Thunderbolt cards i ended up with the AJA Io XT, https://www.aja.com/en/products/io-xt#overview. Does anybody tried these capture cards? Do you know if it works with WatchOut? Regardless the TB bandwith, because we usually use 720p to capture video inputs, so maybe the bandwith is ok for that video resolutions. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hello! Is there a Tweaking List for Windows 8.1? I couldn't find it in the forum. Thanks!
  3. Hello, we use Mac Pro Cylinder with bootcamp as display computers. We actually use BlackMagic UltraStudio Express TB to capture live video. We use up to 3 capture cards for multiple live video inputs. The thing is that we loose 1 video output for each capture card we use because the TB port can be a video output or a TB port for the capture card. Does anybody knows if the UltraStudio 4k Extreme (TB 2.0) can be used as the Declink QUAD for 4 simultaneous live SDI inputs? https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/ultrastudiothunderbolt/techspecs/W-DLUS-08 Thanks in advance.
  4. We succesfully use Mac Pro Cylinders with bootcamp as display computers. I think a Mac Mini as a display computer is not worth it becasuse you can only use 2 video outputs (1 HDMI and one MDP). I don't know if the 3 outputs with one MDP works fine. The other thing is that if you want a fast capture card, you don't have adittional ThunderBolt Ports, you must use USB 3.0, and the lattency of that cards is worse than TB.
  5. Hello everyone, two days ago we did a show with 4 videos running at the same time with RGB + alpha channel. These videos were on a top layer of another 3 videos. We used the hap codec to do this. You need to install the codec both in the display and production computers. Show: -1 production computer -1 mac pro (cylinder) with bootcamp with 2 VGA (2 projectors) and 1 HDMI (LED screen) outputs. All 1600x1200px. Codec: https://github.com/vidvox/hap-qt-codec/releases/
  6. I installed this setup. Everything works, even the TB blanckmagic Ultra Studio and the Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0. Now i must check performance with all the six TB video outputs. Edit: Mac pro: 3.5Ghz 6 core Intel Xeon 32gb RAM AMD Firepro D700 6144mb Tested this whit this setup: -Windows 8 -5 XGA outputs (mini DP to VGA) -1 thunderbolt Blackmagic Ultra Studio -1 USB 3.0 Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle Production: Macbook Pro Retina Display with VMware Everything works fine.
  7. AVDAVESOUND, we also work with mac pros cylinder for animation. I will try your setup for a mac display computer running windows with bootcamp. Does anybody know if the thunderbolts ports can be used for a capture card, like Blackmagic Intensity when running Windows? Thank you.
  8. Yes, i saw that the x79 i74930 proccesors is more expensive than the x99 5820
  9. Thanks for your response, i will add a x79 chipset option for the owners of my company to decide with the budget available.
  10. I can tell you an alternative that we used to do this. There's no need for external apps. You need an iphone X and an apple TV. Follow these steps (source: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201335): Connect your iOS device and your Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen to access Control Center. Tap AirPlay. Tap the name of the Apple TV you wish to AirPlay to, then tap Mirroring. Once enabled, your iOS device's screen will be mirrored on your Apple TV. Then, you need an HDMI capture card (like Blackmagic Intensity Pro) and capture the Apple TV HDMI output into your blackmagic HDMI IN. Then you will see your iPhone screen in your Watchout System.
  11. I've been doing some research in this forum and in different PC forums. This topic helped me: http://forum.dataton.com/topic/1512-new-watchout-display-computers-hardware-config/?hl=%2Bdisplay+%2Bcomputer I saw that the X79 Chipset is a bit old, do you still think this chipset is up to date to build a pro PC Display? On the other hand Z97 is newer but not as pro, and its cheaper. I builded 2 configurations (Z97 and X99). Is the X99 way better? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance. 12. Thanks for your reply What do you mean by this? to use the proper codec, resolution, etc?
  13. Hello, i work in an audiovisual company in Argentina (mapping and video installations). www.sasami.com.ar We actually own 4 watchout licenses. We are upgrading our 3 display computers. I got budgets based on the 2012's .PDF of this forum. Some components are newer versions of those of the pdf. We only work with XGA projectors (only a few times we use HD projectors). So, our principal need is to achieve 4/6 VGA analog outputs in each display computer (we may have to use miniDP-VGA, DP-VGA or DVI-VGA adaptors) Option 1: -MOTHER GIGABYTE (1150) GA-Z97M-D3H) -1 INTEL CORE I7 4790 -2 RAM KINGSTON DDR3 HYPER-X 8GB 1600MHZ -2 SSD-KINGSTON 240GB SATA3 -1 VIDEO CARD ASUS R9 280X 3GB DDR5 (2miniDP + 1HDMI + 1DVI-D + 1DVI, i think that we may use 4 VGA outputs with this card) -POWER SENTEY MBP-850W -1/2 BLACKMAGIC INTENSITY PRO OPTION 2 (The only difference is the video card): -2 VIDEO CARD SAPPHIRE R9 270X 2GB DDR5 I also found this graphic card with 6 miniDP outputs, do you thing is better than de ones above for 4/6 VGA outputs? -AMD FirePro W600 2GB GDDR5 6 Mini DisplayPort Eyefinity 6 Edition PCI-Express Graphics Cardor -AMD FirePro W7000 4GB GDDR5 4DisplayPort PCI-Express Workstation Graphics Card I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance
  14. Maybe something in this topic can help you: http://forum.dataton.com/topic/503-slide-presenter-with-watchout/?do=findComment&comment=1818
  15. Solved this issue with a really simple program. KeyMapper is a freeware software that allows you to remap your keyboard. The forward arrow in the presenter is recognized as Page Down key on the computer. And the backwards arrow in the presenter is recognized as Page Up key. So I remapped the page down key as the space bar and the page up key as the left arrow. Putting pause cues in the video and using this keymapper you can use WO as a power point presentation.
  16. Hello, I used Watchout for a "Powerpoint presentation". We made a video of about 3 minutes lenght. Each slide was a still picture of about 0.5 secs and in between there was a transition (everything rendered in one video). In the timeline i put pause cues when the image became still (40 pause cues representing each of the 40 slides). I didnt have time to develop an automatic presenter so i put another computer with a standard presenter and i followed the slides with the pause cues. Does anybody know a way to adapt a standard powerpoint presenter to WO? Does anybody know a way to assign the forward arrow of the presenter to the spacebar on the keyboard? Thanks in advance.
  17. Ok! I solved this by using preview settings to wireframes. Thanks. I Always presplitted manually the videos. Do you think that using media proxies the performance of the playback will improve? This can be used in any case? even when you have a large video like the one described above?. Thanks.
  18. Hello, I work for a video company in Argentina. We have WO 5.1. We recently did a mapping projection with 13 displays. We used 7 Display computers (2 outputs each) and a production computer. We projected 3 walls of an event conference room. The main project size was 12595px X 553px. We splited that main video in 7 parts according to the diferent blendings and wall sizes. At the same time, the main video lenght was 40 minutes separated in 8 five minutes parts. The 7 videos sizes were: 2 videos of 2662x417 splited in 2 parts of 1331x417 each. 3 videos of 1843x553. The codec (converted with Procoder 3) used was: - Mpeg2: .m2v - 25 fps - interlacing = lower field first - bitrate = 24.000 Audio: - 2 separate audio tracks WAV (16 bit, 44.100) Production computer and display computers: - Intel Core i7 3.07gHz - ram = 2gb - win 7 32 bit - Ati radeon HD 5670 - Windows 7 32 Bit Here is the issue. Each time we loaded a video in the timeline, the response speed of Watchout slowed a bit. When we completed loading all the videos in the WO project, everything became SO slow. I mean, when we press play, the video runs perfectly in all the displays but when we press the space bar to pause the playback it takes about 15 secs (or more) for the video to stop. If we wanted to move the cues of the timeline it also worked extremely slow. We rebooted all the computers, and reopened the project with same results. During the essays we pressed play and the video playback was ok until minute 35 (of 40) when the displays started to loose a bit of synchronization. To avoid this we inserted a pause and play cue in the middle of the video and that worked to avoid desynchronization. Yesterday i tried to do all the project again and tested performance. When i loaded about 4 videos of this kind in the timeline, i saw a bit of latency in the production computer to pause playback, resize cues, scroll the timeline, etc. I hope you can understand me (my English is not the best). If anyone see what things we are doing wrong or what could be our problem please answer this topic. Thanks in advance. Julián.
