  1. Same same but different. Coolux is owned by Christie (which is why you will see them lumped together alot). PB was initially designed as a dmx media server. That is where it's beginnings lie. Over time it has morphed into a real power house. It can pretty much do what watchout can do with some limitations.... Like most dmx media servers it is a bit likited in layers. The more powerful hardware boxes are pretty much unlimited but the less powerful machines may only be able to deal with 4 or 8 layers. Pb is not just a hardware only solution - you can license per output (& 4 layers) to run from your own hardware. They also have a very powerful tool called widget designer which allows for some very complex automation and control. Watchout can do a lot of the same things- it is more elegant to program wo in my opinion - but pb is probably a touch more powerful for live "busked" shows and interactive shows (performer tracking, interactive installations etc). Wo has the better time-line.
  2. You will need to install it on all Watchout display PCs as well.
  3. Instead of LTC could you use ableton to send MSC cues instead? that way you can program with pre-run and then when you jump, your timeline will be triggered by Ableton to advance...
  4. I am assuming that your display machine has a monitor on one output and a projector on the other to allow you to monitor the output or something? Go into windows display preferences on the display computer. You need to make sure the outputs are set as "mirrored" or "cloned". Close it and restart Watchout.
  5. You can program the perfect cue to output different characters on the a and b outputs - you want to program the watchout side to output 0 (zero) which is tge keyboard play command. Space toggles - that means if the presenter hits forward before reaching a pause point the timeline stops. If using the 3 button remote Program back to be escape (which pauses the timeline) and the black screen button to d (enter standby mode). Leave the other side with the default map and Bob's your Uncle.
  6. At 110 universes I would be looking at running a lighting desk (or whatever solution the rig is programmed in) and syncing everything together with timecode.
  7. Yep - Play Audio Media is checked... WO Versions 5.5.1 and 6.0
  8. Hi All My WO Production machine has, for some unknown reason, ceased to play back audio. This is really annoying as it makes programming a real pain in the backside as I am having to push to displays to preview my audio. Media clips play fine in both media player and QT - at first I thought it was a driver issue with my Novatis AudioHub not being recognised as the default output (or something along those lines) so I tried switching to internal soundcard with the AudioHUB disconnected and the drivers removed. No dice. The machine has had production audio working with both the AudioHUB and using internal sound card ever since the image was built 2 years ago, with the only changes I am aware of being the upgrading of the WO software on board - this issue does not line up with an upgrade though... so I don't know what could have changed. Assistance would be most welcome.
  9. This is where I think a lot of peoples redundancy arguments fall over - the addition of a matrix switcher does 2 things - it increases the number of failure points by (2xoutputs)+1 as there are now an additional 2 cables for every output as well as a single point of failure in the matrix - there is also no redundancy from the second half of the signal chain. I would rather put my money on WO straight to projector over redundant WO to a matrix to projector. From my point of view after several hundred one-off watchout builds I have found most issues come from bad cables causing displays to drop and watchpoint to crack a spaz or bad media. Redundant PC's will obviously see you through the spaz out if a display drops (But you also have >2 times the chance of it happening on ONE of your machines as the Matrix can also drop out) - what really makes a hardened system is tweaking the OS as per the WO guide then testing your media thoroughly. Re-image your display and production machines regularly and if you have any concerns about your primary setup - from cables to projectors - replace it. If it is so critical that everything goes smoothly, the only redundancy worth considering is a completely separate system running in parallel. Double the projectors, double the cabling, double the WO Displays and double the WO Production PC's. My 2c anyway.
  10. A copuple of feature requests: Right-Click context menus inside the media and task panes - the media one to basically display the contents of the media toolbar, the task one to give the option to edit timeline options etc. Some form of "treatments" pool - operates similarly to Ctrl-c Ctrl-v but perhaps has the option to "apply to start" "apply to end" or "apply at cursor" as part of the treatments options - for storing pre-built tween track components (fade in, fade out etc) Ability to put layour lines on the stage - that snap points snap to.
  11. SWF - colloquially known as a Flash movie file. Not talking Movie as in Movie file. Take for example the Dynamic image server academy example here - all I am getting is the first frame of the movie, no scripts from within it are being executed, all it displays is all three hands pointing straight up. No updates, nothing.
  12. I am having a similar issue - it is like Image Server is loading the first frame of the movie but not playing it - Running Flash 11.9.900.117 (activeX version) - for example, with the Analogue Clock example, I get a clock displaying 12:00:00. My sandbox settings have been updated as per the file above. The editable text with images project worked fine. I can drop and replace image files no dramas, it just seems like flash movies are not actually playing.
