  9. Hello everyone! Just upgraded to v5 and working on configuring my setup. One problem I'm having is with the new startup script option for Watchout Display. I'm able to remotely power up/down the computers but I cannot get Display to launch at startup. When I go to edit the startup script, the file is empty. I looked through the documentation and did not see an answer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  10. So I just started playing with Watchnet for the first time and have run into a problem that I am having a hard time finding a solution for. I have been following the video tutorials step by step and have had no issues or errors, up until I try to run a script. Whenever I try to run any type of script, I get the logged error "Not authorized for: gotoControlCue". What would you recommend I should try to communicate with the cluster? My subsystem is online and my .wob show file has been uploaded with no problem. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

  14. Hi, I've been volentold (a hybrid of volunteering and betting told) into a fairly large amateur production this year and have decided to go with Watchout as I am comfortable/ experienced with the programming style and there are a few other constraints relating to what software is available. We are running a system that needs to output to a total of 5 projectors (some doing blends, some doing their own screen/ surface) I just have a few quick questions that I would love some help with. For this show we are going to be using timecode for certain elements of control as lighting want to have some items in time with the music (Note: Certain parts of the show, not all of it). I wanted to go with timecode as I've experienced a few issues with the production software crashing during some major shows (this is almost certainly not a watch out fault simply our computers - don't worry about this bit as the watchpoint slave software has been 100% rock solid for a few hundred hours of playback time) I haven't used timecode in this situation before so I thought I'd explain my idea and then you can point out any issues that I might need to look at. As only certain elements of the show will be sending timecode from the pit/ stage manager I thought I would pre-program the whole watch out timeline and take the show control timecode into a Mac running QLab. The Mac will be playing and pausing a single timecode file which feeds to the watch out system. The mac can then be triggered to play and pause the timecode audio output from either an external timecode input (eg. the music) or from manual triggers (me pressing go) depending on the cue. This means that there is just a single timeline with timecode running on watch out and the system isn't having to be built around the timecode being sent by the band/ SM intermittently. My main question is: How do the watch out slaves handle timecode playing and pausing? I Understand that I feed timecode into one slave and the rest just keep up via the network, I just want to know how I handle "pausing" the timeline. During previous productions where I've used watch out I was using the production software with pause markers on a layer. I'm guessing that is not applicable when chasing timecode. Do I need to send a special "pause" command at the end of a stream of timecode or can I just stop outputting Timecode and watch out will pause on that frame. Any assistance would be really appreciated Cal

  16. Hi, I'm currently using watchout for a show (In the Sydney Opera House) and really like the system. My only question is about how the remote shutdown actually works under "Manage display computer". At the moment in my show I leave the stage window closed so at the end of the show I need to open the window and click each screen and shut down the computer (which sometimes is really fast or locks up the computer). I would like to know what sort of command this is sending out over the LAN as I would be interested in automating this into one (very dangerous) script that shuts down all computers and projectors when you run it (after you confirm that you want to shut down of course) Any input would be appreciated. Cal
  17. I have a several question about Watchout display sever and production server which are provided by Dataton. I want to display basic video content on the LFD screen and also I want real time text message and flash files on the basic video by scheduling (there are day time text messages and night time text messages to display). 1. Can Watchout 5 have interaction with CMS(content management system) like below? 2. Can this system control in network by remote controlling? CMS Requirement is following First Basic Background Video Content (first artistic video content)Number of Video : 4 (random scheduling is needed) Add and Delete function for Movie Clips and Scheduling for random timeline for content (using network) Second Basic Video Content (2nd artistic video content)Number of Video: 5 , 2 of day time content/3 of night time content --> scheduling is needed Add and Delete function for movie clips and Scheduling for on time display function for content(using network) Welcome Real Time Text message and Flash FileProducing moving text template with flash files and real time text message, There will be 1 Day Time version and 1 Night Time version Add and Delete Template function Manager can type real time text message to display If we have more than 2 of day time and night time template, we need to have the function of designating time for each template Text message should be displayed in the scheduled time

  20. We're working on a fixed installation and the end user needs PowerPoint in the Watchout presentation. The end-user can copy video files in a video folder, images in a image folder, audio in the audio folder and a PowerPoint presentation in a PowerPoint folder. All the cue's / external time lines are linked to these different media files. I know it's not possible to play PowerPoint directly with Watchout. Capturing a separate computer with powerpoint is a solution, but the client prefer one system which can handle all the media, also the PowerPoint. Maybe it´s possible to create a interactive front-end which is running on a laptop / tablet which trigger Watchout and a PowerPoint viewer? Just wondering if someone has a workaround. Maybe in combination with the dynamic image server?
  21. Hi Everyone, I have been using Watchout (WO) with other staging companys' Spyder systems for a few years now using both v4 and v5 WO. Occasionally there have been some odd flashes on the screen but generally nothing serious, more annoying and unsettling. I don't like surprises. Any odd experiences like that were put down to firmware updates in the Spyder as the display output monitored out of my WO kit were absolutely stable. I have a Lightware 16x16 DVI matrix between my WO kit and the Spyder so I can switch between each output and check each individual output. Last year a staging company here in Australia did not want to use Watchout with Spyder on a project I was involved with because their in-house testing suggested there were 'issues' between Watchout and their Spyder. They didn't explain what issues they had during their tests. Recently my WO kit was used on another job with Sypder and to my knowledge (I wasn't on site for this job) there were no issues. Considering both WO and Sypder are mature, well developed products used around the world and would have been used together many hundreds or even thousands of times, can anyone share their experiences of any 'issues' they've encountered using WO and Spyder and what work arounds they've used to get a succesfull marriage between the two systems? Please post what versions of WO and Spyder you've been using and whether certain versions of either were more problematic than others. I've run this queation past both Dataton Support and our local distributor and they are not aware of anything specific when using WO with Spyder. Many thanks in anticipation for your assistance. ---> Mal Padgett --> Melbourne --> Australia
  22. I need to find the best way to allow Protools to sync up with a 8-screen Watchout show to allow for live audio-mixing in the theater. The audio is specific to the screens at times and is full surround at other times. 1. Protools can generate TC. How would I feed this to allow Watchout to chase the Timecode? 2. What framerate should Protools be set to? The original timeline was 23.98. The mpegs inside Watchout are 29.97. Watchout plays 60. How should the Protools be set up? Has anyone out there done this?
