  1. Hi Everyone, I have been using Watchout (WO) with other staging companys' Spyder systems for a few years now using both v4 and v5 WO. Occasionally there have been some odd flashes on the screen but generally nothing serious, more annoying and unsettling. I don't like surprises. Any odd experiences like that were put down to firmware updates in the Spyder as the display output monitored out of my WO kit were absolutely stable. I have a Lightware 16x16 DVI matrix between my WO kit and the Spyder so I can switch between each output and check each individual output. Last year a staging company here in Australia did not want to use Watchout with Spyder on a project I was involved with because their in-house testing suggested there were 'issues' between Watchout and their Spyder. They didn't explain what issues they had during their tests. Recently my WO kit was used on another job with Sypder and to my knowledge (I wasn't on site for this job) there were no issues. Considering both WO and Sypder are mature, well developed products used around the world and would have been used together many hundreds or even thousands of times, can anyone share their experiences of any 'issues' they've encountered using WO and Spyder and what work arounds they've used to get a succesfull marriage between the two systems? Please post what versions of WO and Spyder you've been using and whether certain versions of either were more problematic than others. I've run this queation past both Dataton Support and our local distributor and they are not aware of anything specific when using WO with Spyder. Many thanks in anticipation for your assistance. ---> Mal Padgett --> Melbourne --> Australia
  2. I need to find the best way to allow Protools to sync up with a 8-screen Watchout show to allow for live audio-mixing in the theater. The audio is specific to the screens at times and is full surround at other times. 1. Protools can generate TC. How would I feed this to allow Watchout to chase the Timecode? 2. What framerate should Protools be set to? The original timeline was 23.98. The mpegs inside Watchout are 29.97. Watchout plays 60. How should the Protools be set up? Has anyone out there done this?

  10. Hi I'm pretty new to working with watchout and this question has probably been asked before but I don't seem to find the right answer here... I'm doing a 13224x500 animation, pre-splited from AE, rendered out as QT (animation) then my plan is to encode the QT into Mpeg2 using Adobe Media Encoder. My question is; what is the best settings for Mpeg2 in this case? And is QT-animation the best format to render out from AE considering time/quality for the end result? I'm on a mac if that make any difference... Thanks in advance /// Daniel

  12. Hi, Happy to Join all you experts on this forum. This is Snaido Davis. I am a little new to using Watchout. I would like to know about controlling a switcher controller (Barco Screenpro HD2 Controller) which is connected to a hub via CAT6 to which my watchout pcs are also connected. I have assigned the presets to say 6 buttons on my switcher controller. How do I call them or activate them from watchout? I presume that i should be adding a string output through TCP to the ip address of the switcher controller. Please advise me on the port number and the Data that I should pass to the switcher to activate my switcher preset. Thanks in advance for your help.
