10bit output

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I tried to find some informations about 10bit output with Watchout in the docs, but couldn't find something. Do you have experience with 10bit (sure, per color channel)? Does Watchout support 10bit output?

Thanks, marco

WATCHOUT is strictly 8-bit at this time. Plans are in place for future versions of WATCHOUT to support 10-bit.

Thanks jfk,

are there some more detailes informations available? Perhaps like next year? ? A lot of customers are asking for 10bit support nowadays.Would be nice to give them a better answer like: it's planned...

Thanks again.

Dear eddyedfred,

at the moment Dataton has not published any official roadmap for future developments of WATCHOUT. But we do have some big plans for next year. ;)

Best regards,
David

hi

i've asked the same question maybe one year ago, i've been answered "not for the moment and not in a near future"

it involves watchout to be completely rewrote, in 64 bits.

But it surely is a necessity, a need, nowadays, maybe like mapping etc...

10bits capable softwares are getting more and more numerous and efficient for video (generated content or video content made in 10 bits)

to get rid off of banding or zoning in displayed video content (famous story of grey levels !)

ciao !
