Automated Playlist Import from Gipedo to Watchout for LED Perimeter Boards

Recommended Posts

We're currently using Watchout to manage the display content on our LED perimeter boards at football matches. Our process involves manually inputting predefined running orders or playlists into Watchout for each game. However, we are looking to streamline this process.

We want to use a platformlike Gipedo The Vault etc, which generates the playlists automatically. It would be incredibly helpful if there was a way to directly import these generated playlists into Watchout. This would eliminate the need for manual playlist creation and reduce the risk of errors, saving us significant time and effort.

Does anyone know if this feature exists or if there are any plans to implement it? Alternatively, are there any third-party tools or plugins that might facilitate this integration?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Could it be as simple as using the tools of your choice on their own computer and using NDI to pipe that computers display into WATCHOUT via the network ?

I think this would make a very good feature request, and I hope the API in v7 will evolve to the point where it's possible.

I'm involved in a projet in Paris right now - not using Watchout - where the client wanted to be able to manage media and playlist creation remotely. A company developed a web-based CMS for them, where the different production companies can upload the video content and the client can then build different playlists and schedule them on a calendar. There is an 'Export playlists to Media server' button, which downloads and imports the media files, and then automatically creates playlists in the media-server. No exporting to spreadsheets, no manual timeline creation - a one-click 'import the show' button. Admittedly it's not the most interesting show to run, as all we have to do is check the imported show and make sure the correct machine is selected in the video switcher but, for certain types of installation, it's absolutely what clients want.

At the moment, I guess it would be possible to convert the data from the video platforms and use scripts to build timeline cues to copy-and-paste into Watchout, but a streamlined API for media import and timeline creation would be very useful for this kind of project.
