Hi all, there seem to be at least some 6 output cards available:

VisionTek Radeon HD 6870 Eyefinity6 2GB GDDR5

http://www.visiontek...eyefintiy6.html

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814129184

Needs 6 of these type of ACTIVE adapters for DVI

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16815309008

ASUS EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 Radeon HD 6970 2GB

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814121430

ASUS EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 Radeon HD 6950 2GB

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814121431

Both of these needs 4 of these type of ACTIVE adapters for DVI

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814999032

For more professional use:

ATI FirePro V9800 4GB GDDDR% Workstation Video Card

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814195102

Expensive, longer, but can be fit into an 3U rack enclosure.

Seems to come with ACTIVE adapters for DVI, if not it needs 6 of these type of ACTIVE adapters for DVI

Hi Jonas,

We are about to build a Watchout system and I'm researching components at the moment.

All the recommended graphics cards in this thread are below ATI 7XXX series, is there a reason for that?

I'm curios if this card would be good for WO 5.1 playback computer:

Hi Makkot,

These cards a very nice, we use them ourselves, as replacements for the earlier

ASUS HD6950/6970-cards of similar design, 2 DVI/4 DisplayPort, we've been using extensively.

They are a bit hard to find at the moment, but I think they've been ramping up production a while now.

Hi Jonas,

ASUS HD6950/6970-cards, 2 DVI/4 DisplayPort - Can I use this card to make the screen of the six monitors? Eyefinity6 is not possible to buy, and Dataton licensing policy does not allow more than one videocard in the system unit. I'm afraid I can not properly synchronize the different types of outputs here that would create a one six-monitors screen.

Hi Jonas, ASUS HD6950/6970-cards, 2 DVI/4 DisplayPort - Can I use this card to make the screen of the six monitors?

Yes

Eyefinity6 is not possible to buy,

Not sure what that means. There are a couple of six output models with Eyefinity.

and Dataton licensing policy does not allow more than one videocard in the system unit.

Nothing to do with licensing per se, everything to do with the technical limitations of the drivers under DirectX 3D.

I'm afraid I can not properly synchronize the different types of outputs here that would create a one six-monitors screen.

We used those cards (and now the newer replacement Asus Radeon HD 7970 model). With proper active Mini DisplayPort to DVI adaptors you can get six DVI outputs and synch is not a problem with the adaptors. If you want six identical outputs, The ATi FirePro v9800 has Eyefinity and six matching MiniDisplayPort outputs. A lot more expensive though. The real challenge is building a PC with enough throughput and processing power to decode six HD movies at the same time. Using MPEG2 compression and paying close attention to the encoding settings, six 720p60 or six 1080p30 seems possible, but six 1080p60 may be over the threshold.

Can a DVI extender (CAT 5e) be used after the conversion to DVI?

We just used the Hall Research UH-1BTX HDbaseT Cat 5e / 6 extenders for a Disney project. We had five Watchout Display machines with Eyefinity graphics cards. We used active Display Port adapters for 4 outputs per machine through the HDbaseT transmitters. The signals were extended between 75' to over 300' .  Hall Research updated their firmware to accomodate the Eyfinity drivers. These HDbaseT extenders are specifically designed for HDMI home theater applications so we used HDMI to DVI adapter cables at the the projector end of the runs.

Having tested many different Cat extenders with dismal results, we were surprised and pleased with the performance of the HDbaseT technology. The ATI Catalyst Control Center reliably received the Christie projector EDID through HTbaseT everytime. We never had to do the "EDID dance" to get the projectors recognized by the graphics card. The cost difference between HDbaseT and SDI is considerable and we did not need the $2K plus SDI cards in the projectors.

I agree with Adela.  If using Eyefinity, test everything extensively including all outputs prior to your installation.

Hello, we, ( The Agency i work in) are planning to Buy a watchout lisence, & using this card (Club 3D Radeon HD 7870 Eyefinity 6 2GB GDDR5) with 6 of these Adapters from the same Manufacturer.

Is that fesable? if yes we'll apreciate if u can advise us about the best extenders we could use, we planned initially to use a paire of these couples ( sry the link is in french, we are located in Morocco, North Africa. & nearer the reseler from us the better it would be, but im pretty sur you' ll get what their properties are) + LC-LC Optique fiber's cable to extend the signal with minimum degradation.

Another question if you dont mind, wich one of those PSU(Power supply Unit)'s would deliver enough power for the Rig to operate 6 Projectors?

Last question ;) . In theory, if i find a crossfire's enabled Motherboard, use 2 of the card mentionned above, whould i be able to use 1 License of watchout to make a Video wall with 6x2=12 projectors?

Cheers

It would probably work well.

This is the adapter you'll need, it has to be ACTIVE for 6 outputs:

http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/mini-dp-to-active-dvi-single-link-cable.html

The key thing apart from the graphics card is not the PSU but the CPU, what do you have in mind here?

Look here, in the forum, for examples on setups:
