Does it look like this? Because this is what happens on our display machine. They are also defined with IP and not name..

Exactly the same! We haven't changed IP to names yet. Probably, next week we will try it and also will check the add/remove program menu.

The temporary solution which we made is to determine automatically that WO had been minimized and restart it.

Asmundboe, don't you use NDI stream or 3D projectors in your project as well as us? I have some suspicions about them...

  2. Hello everyone.

Maybe someone has met such a behavior of WO already: the display computer unexpectedly minimizes its window but continues to work. In our case it happens usually about 4 hours after starting. No notifications at all. This project initially has been installed about 6 months ago. After that there were some additions in content, updating WO etc. We encountered the minimized window problem a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't mean that the problem hadn't existed earlier, because our installation usually works less than 4 hours.

    Configuration:

    1 PC with 3 outputs to 2 x Projectors Canon XEED WUX 450ST + 1 x Monitor 90" NEC MultiSync E905

    Windows Emb 10

    Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz

    mATX ASUS H110M-R/C/SI

    Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 570 NITRO+ 4GB GDDR5

    2xDIMM DDR4 (2400) 8Gb

    WO 6.2.2

There are also some specific features in the project, like NDI stream, virtual screens and projection on 3D objects.

It seems we don't have any unneseccary software on the PC and Windows Emb has been tweaked quite thoroughly.

Actually, I wonder, who might be the culprit? Any ideas?

  3. Are you using a script file to load the show at the beginning and run the INTRO timeline?

How do the strings look like you send from your Alcorn controller?

Actually no, we don't use the script here, we load the show as well as the INTRO timeline sending commands from the controller. Of course, the command to load INTRO is sended only after the controller checks the show has been loaded.

At the moment I can't give an exaple of the strings, it wasn't my part of the job, but I sure It is a standard WO protocol. We used the same in many other projects.

Have you tried to send the control commands through a Telnet program instead of the Alcorn controller? This gives you valuable feedback when trouble shooting your system.

Yes, we did. The protocol has worked fine. We haven't got any error messages.

...than its most probably something with the projection computer.

Yes, I also think something unusual happens when the computer starts. This process might have prevented WO to work properly at the beginning. I just have thought someone could meet this problem before.

  4. Very difficult to answer without knowing:

    • which version of WATCHOUT are you using?
    • how does your project file look like?
    • what are you using to control WATCHOUT?
    • which strings are you sending from your control unit?

It is rather easy to control a WATCHOUT cluster through an external control system and it should not introduce any delays. I assume that the control software sends   authenticate 1   when establishing the connection!? Does the controller keep the connection open or does it close the connection starting the first show? The best way would be to keep the connection open. If not the controller needs to send   authenticate 1 again when it reconnects to the WATCHOUT cluster.

    WO 6.1.5

There are 4 tasks in our project. The task called INTRO starts automatically and plays looped video. Each of the other tasks stops INTRO, plays its own content then runs INTRO again. The Main Timeline also isn't empty and contains a virtual screen. A screenshot of the project's window should be find here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6GY675J_VVWYTg0REpXbG9iRDQ/view?usp=sharing

We use Alcorn McBride show controller which internally utilizes our Watchout cluster protocol implementation, so everything is under our full control. http://alcorn.com/products/v4-pro/

We only send commands to start one of the aux timelines. All the other actions like stopping unnecessary timelines are completed inside the playing timeline.

Of course, we keep connection open all the time. Moreover, we receive regular (5s) status updates instantiated by 'getStatus 1' command.

  5. Hi, everyone

have some odd problem with a show. It is a fix installation in a museum. There are two WUXGA projectors and one FullHD LCD-monitor which are connected to one display computer. The WO show is organized as a number of aux tasks, which are launched trough an external controller, when someone pushes a respective button in the exposition. Therefore we don't have a production computer in the installation. The first aux task is a general background movie, which runs automatically after launching computer and WO and is supposed to be stopped while some other task is running.

The problem is that after the first launching WO it is impossible to switch any tasks. You must wait for several minutes before you can run the task of your choice. If you push the button too early there are two options. Either the background task hangs and then the whole show crashes or it handgs but the choosen task eventually runs after 15~20 sec.

Interesting that if we run everething trough the production computer there is no problems at all. All tasks are switched smoothly and run correctly. Also everything is fine if you manage to start some task after about 5 minutes since launching WO.

May be someone can bring up some hints how to sort it out? It seems that a computer is capable for the show, because in some conditions it works fine. The same is about codecs. May be there are better ways to organize switching tasks in the show? May be it is required to give certain gap between starting a computer and launching WO?  I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

  6. Hi everyone,

I wonder, which is the most convenient way to install both WO5 and WO6 on the same computer? I'd like to use WO6 for the new projects, but it is still necessary to maintain the old projects, created with WO5. Of course, it is possible to use the virtual machine, but I think it is quite common issue, may be there is some simpler way to do it.

    Thanks.

  7. If this means 209 Mbps for a 1920x1080 file, I would say that here is your problem.

Instead of Animation codec, try use a h264 with green, blue or black background and

apply a Keying tween track on the file. It will save you valuable resources.

That's right, exactly 209 Mbps. I'll try to remake it, although there is a problem with a green shirt of the main character:) Probably it is necessary to add 6 EDID emulators also...

Jonas, thank you for your help

  8. Here you are:

    Computers

    i7/ RAM 8GB/ video Radeon R9 280X 3Gb/ 2 SSD 240Gb/ Win7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Content contains lots of pictures, mp3 files and a few videoclips. The most heavy pictures have a resolution 20352x1080, 20Mb. They are used as backgrounds.

    Videoclips:

2 HD quicktime movies with alpha channel, 1920x1080, bitrate 209535 (oops.. quite a lot), each one has about 2Gb

    1 HD mpg file, 1920x1080, bitrate 18884, 34 Mb

    1 HD mp4 file, 1920x1080, bitrate 22642, 153 Mb

  9. Hi everyone!

I have a problem with my fix installation. There are 3 PCs with 2 HDMI outputs each, 6 projectors Panasonic RZ470 and 6 DVI to CAT5 extenders Gefen without any EDID equipment unfortunately. All together they make a 15-min show on the round 360° screen. Sometimes one of the computers stops running Dataton software. We can see on the screen a warning sign like this - “Dataton Watchout software doesn't work..... Close the program.” It happens randomly on the different screens at the different time. After restarting the computers the problem disappears. For a while.

I've heard about some problems with CAT5 extenders. They could lose the signal for a short time. However I'm not sure it could cause crashing Watchout5 like this.

My question is – is it enough just to add the EDID emulators to each output or should I pay attention to something else?

    Thank you.
