  1. A copy/paste feature, where you can paste a copied Task, where you place a mark. When you paste today, it always end up in the top, but if you have 200 Tasks, it's painstaking time consuming if you have to this over and over again. Another suggestion is folders in the Task section.

  2. It is not really what I am looking for. It's a command, which I can send from an external app/widget, which disable MIDI. I did a show last week, where the entire setup was in use, until 5 minutes before the show started. What I did was I called a spcific Task, which called a studio layout. I then disabled MIDI, and left. 5 minutes later the studio was in use again, but they couldn't override my setup, which was exactly what I wanted. So - my question was: is there a special command, like "enableLayerCond 1$0D" which will diasble MIDI remotely. Maybe a syntax with a boolean value.

  3. I'm designing a show, which have to run between to TV studio setups. We use a WO production normally to control and run the shows.I have made a simple browser interface, to control the different tasks, that have to be executed during the show. There is one thing though. I need to disable MIDI, so if the WO Production recieve a MIDI command, it wont be affected. Is there a syntax to do that? I've scanned through all the documentation I can get my hands on, but no luck...

  4. We changed to Datapath after experiencing numerous problems with BMD. Couldn't find the reason and didn't get help from BM. Haven't had any problems in that area since. I know it's a vague explanation, but the facts speaks for themselves.

  5. I like to keep things as clean as possible, when I deliver my designs. So it would be a good feature in a future version :-)

To Fredrik - yes. Going Thursday with Paul, and we're looking forward to meet you. Are both you and Mike attending?

    Cheers Christian

  9. Hi

I'm cleaning up an existing show, in which there's been added several stage tiers. My problem is, there's no delete function for stage tiers. I've tried to look in earlier threads, but it seems as if this possibility is missing? It's not a show stopper, but is there a way to solve this issue?

  10. Hi Peter

Yes it can. At the moment we're running a show, which is partly triggered by our graphics system. What it does is it uses a TCP send function. In this case it sends a command to both start an aux timeline, and another command to control the values of certain input values. You can send these commands directly to the node, using the IP an port 3039, or to the production machine on port 3040, if it's online. Try to use good old Telnet to test your network and syntaxes. I have an example here, where I control several values in one syntax:

    "setInputs 300 "VALUE1" 0 "VALUE2" 0.85  "VALUE3" 0.82$0D"

The first value is the duration, in this case 300 ms. Next it is value of the first parameter, in this case 0, next case 0,85 etc. Remember to end the syntax with "$0D" or it wont work.

If its just on value, then the syntax is a little different:

"setInput "VALUE1" 1  300$0D". The first value is the value were changing to, and the last value is the duration.

I hoe this will get you started :)

  11. Hi

I've experienced something similar. To avoid this effect I normally start the timeline, and immediately pause it for a second, and the continue. The issue is that the timeline is not online, until you play it. You can see the little red dot to the left. If it's solid the timeline is off. You could try to online the timeline, but don't play it. Play it after 4-5 seconds, and if you still experience the described issues, then the problem lies elsewhere.

  12. I think the issue is, that if you start a video in an Aux timeline, it has to be armed for a few seconds. And since you don't want a lot of enabled timelines on at the same time, normallyn you would turn the of (stop) when you have played the timeline. What I normally prefer to do when I'm playong a video, is to either, as JFK suggested, have manual preroll, or make a 2 second pause before fading up the video. That should do the trick  :)

  13. I have just finished a project, and since I bought all the hardware from Dataton, I do assume it should be good enough to almost anything. I had similar issues with prores, but after a bit of testing I converted it to the HAP codec. No problems since that. And the show is running in a 24H News studio, with lots of very big video files. Watchout is, from version 6, natively configured with HAP, so you don't even have to install the codec.

  14. If I may suggest. Try to reencode using the HAP codec. MP4 files quite some CPU power. The HAP codec might not slim the video files, but if your system is configured with SSD discs, it can run numerous video files in HD, with no delay, what so ever, in the start up. But... It does require SSD discs, since the video is streamed directly to the graphic card. WO is build to support HAP, and that means you don't even need to install the codec. Just finished a very big TV studio project, using nothing but HAP, and it runs really smooth.

  15. I didn't overlook the color space button, and I did find the color chooser. The challenge is, that I always get a RGB value, when a designer send the coulour spec. I can use Photoshop to get the other values, but when I enter Watchout I can only change the value by changing the percentage value. So I have to do some calculation, instead of just entering the basic RGB values. Not impossible, but takes some time. COLOR_PICKER.png

I've tried to attach an image to explain what I mean. Hopefully it could be something in a future upgrade  ;)

  16. I'm currently working on a show, where some of the footage was delivered as prores. I can not recommend it. I have converted everything from QT Prores 4444, to HAP and HAPa, when the footage was with alpha channel. It really works well, but it requires a very fast harddisc. Therfore all my production an node machines are equipped with SSD disc for the different show material.

  17. Hi

I'm finalising a show, but I have to change the colour on some of the solid objects I have in the show. My issue is not how to change the colour, but if it's possible to use RGB or HSV values? It have to be a perfect match to a defined colour, and it's almost impossible to change on the tiny tween wheel inside Watchout. So if anyone has a trick up their slevve, I will be happy  :D

  18. After a very thorough test, I've uncovered the following behavior. If you online a show from the Production computer, but off line afterwards, the show is then active on the cluster. Unfortunately the cluster still think that it's controlled by the Production computer, and doesn't allow Watchnet to take control. And the other way round. So before you start up, and online a show, you have to decide what ressource controls the cluster - Production or Watchnet.

In a future upgrade of Watchout, and with the above in mind, I suggest that whenever a ressource disconnect from the cluster, the control can the be taken over directly by Watchnet, or the other way round. And that these kind of restraints are described in the manual too  ;)
