Echo AudioFire 12 not stable for multi audio output ? help !

hi all

i have a show running with  7:1 audio , so i have 8 audio channels to output,

sound guy gave me an 8 channels embeded wav file, so i have only one cue in my timeline,

running with a video at the same time.

It's a 10mn loop and plays during all day, almost 10hrs a day, 6 days/week.

i'm running my show with win 7 x64 and WO 5.5.1 and a Echo AudioFire 12.

the driver for the soundcard is 5.8 and that soundcard is set to be the default output device in Windows

to be sure windows will use it only !

My Echo AudioFire 12 is plugged in a standalone watchout PC (starts alone with cmd.txt)

with Mini-DV to FW-400 cable. The Echo AudioFire 12 is also plugged to main power,

to be sure there's enough power.

Sound is working good, i have my 8 output playing great.

My problem is that after a loop or two of my show..NO MORE AUDIO !!!

it seems like the Echo AudioFire 12 have been unplugged !

i have to unplug - replug the Mini-DV to FW-400 cable to make it

visible again for Windows !

Any one experiencing the same issue ?

A solution ?

Do i have to make the Echo AudioFire 12 only plugged with mini-DV to FW-400 cable

and not to main power ?

i really need help

Thx

What FireWire card is used in the PC in question?

I would guess this is the most likely point of failure here.
All FireWire cards are not equal, always use a known-good brand product and with a 6-pin FW connector.
In all cases, the Echo AudioFire 12 always need external power connected, as far as I know.

Did you try to play the file with with a mediaplayer (without watchout) in loop?

What happens then after one or two loops?

If the sound device will disconnect you know you have to replace the hardware, one after one.

MisterK,

This is not a WATCHOUT issue, it's a hardware setup case.

Put a separate PCI/PCIe 6-pin FireWire card in the Display computer (preferably).

I would not trust a laptop with a built-in FW port, maybe a desktop Production computer with a separate PCIE/PCIe FW-card, but the usual way to stable playback of sound is through the Display computer/s.
