I put my projector in front of the screen (because the place it have to), but there is also some of property in front of the screen. Create your mask as an image (Photoshop) and create the area to be masked in black and the area around as transparent surface. Little trick: use a photo camera and make a picture from the exact location as you projectorlens is and make your screen white. The picture will have -in the correct perspective- the outline of the mask you need. Watchout is very powerful when it comes ro scaling and warping, so you can adjust your projection also afterwards.
