  1. hi, before I even read your reply it got into me: Watchout 5.1 DMX/MIDI to Production if it solves my problem for this particular case I give it a try and send DMX directly to Display but in all other cases (most of them live industrial jobs) experience told me that having the production software with an external interface is my smoothest way to run a show - just to be able to change something last minute. thx Dimi
  2. hi, my problem is the following and I wanted to know if someone experianced the same or can tell me what I am doing wrong. When I use a MIDI Controller or a Lightning Console and assign a fader to trigger an aux timeline it works approximatly 7 out of 10 times. It actually behaves the same way on MIDI and on Artnet. In Input window I can see that tha assigned faders are working perfect. I set the Trigger this way: aux1 >0.5||aux1 <0.3. (I changed the values even to =1 to use the flash button on the lightning console - doesn't matter). The first starts the aux timeline then stops at pause cue and the second value starts the aux again and then I put a cancel cue in there. convient way to play videos/live capture outside the main timeline... And as I said. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I managed to get a workaround in the past by putting the content that should start in the aux timeline somewhere active on the mainline (on another output e.g. a preview monitor beside me) so that when the aux starts the content was already loaded. This seems to do two tricks: the trigger fader was always working and I figured out that the content stopped popping in. I know that aux timelines are designed to load the content on the point when they are triggered and if you put the content 1 or 2 seconds after the start of the aux that's totally OK (to avoid the content popping in). My only problem now is what am I doing wrong with the triggers? I'm programming a show with 20 videos for a theater and the lightning operator starting the cues won't accept a 7 out of 10 (and I won't even try to put 20 videos on the main timeline at the same time with opacity to zero) thx for anyone's thoughts on that
  3. hi, thanks for your thoughts. In some cases it's not a question of not wanting to seperate audio and video it's just a question of time.... alright .mp4 not supported. I can live with that, but why does it play in production mode but not in display mode if it isn't supported? cause it shouldn't play either way even if there would be different codec packs installed. OK maybe a noob question but one I am very interested in: why does renaming the extension solve the problem (eg from .mp4 to .mov). The inlying file is still the same(in my case the AAC sound)!
  4. Hi, 1)use a dark grey as background so that you can get rid of the hard overlapping in black. on most LCD projectors it won't matter, because they will always throw light. 2)I repeat: use projector's edge option in addition to watchout softedge 2)http://www.theblacky.de/ this will totally eliminate your problem and can easily programmed into watchout (via e.g. a 2-port-node or an enttec device). Best solution for every projection where you want real black (beside your projector has a real hardware shutter). If you don't know how to output DMX (or don't want do that for redundancy considerations) you can always use the button delivered with the blacky. Dimi
  5. problem solved: for what reason ever: every file is playing as it should on my production pc (inside watchout) as well on any player on my display pc outside of watchout. if a play *.mp4 video files i don't get a sound when I rename them *.mov (even *.aac for a video file!!!) I get sound. so just have to avoid *.mp4 thanks Dimi
  6. thanks for your quick response. Graphstudio does play the sound of video files. So now? best regards Dimi
  7. Hi, We have a Display PC WO 5.1 (Win 7x64, Mobo Asus P8Z68-V Pro, Radeon 6950 Graphics) and the thing is that I don't get any Sound out of my Display PC when it's playing videos. Although the sound plays in quicktime (and windows media player as well) on this PC outside of watchout. When I Play Audio Files on this Display PC I do get sound out of watchout. I also tried various USB sound cards (the sound output of the blackmagic card too) and it is always the same. So the same files obviously play in quicktime (e.g. AAC track within the video) and windows media player but not in watchout. I know I Can play the sound over my Production Laptop but I am tired of this cause after programming I would like to turn the Preview to Thumbnails for performance issues. thanks for your advise I know that someone in this forum can tell me where my "Videosound switch ON" is buried.
