joeartist
Hi all, I am trying to send a serial command to a projector, however, keep getting a message "Invalid Serial Port Name" Any thoughts on why? I am assuming I have something setup incorrectly but and not sure where. Joe
jfk
It may be WATCHOUT can not find the COM1 port on the designated display computer. Or the COM1 port is in use by another process. (Display computer COM 1 is the only serial port supported by WATCHOUT.) reference WATCHOUT 6 User Guide - chapter 10 - Inputs and Outputs - page 151 Using a Serial Port To use a serial port, connect the device to the COM1 port on any display computer, and select a display connected to that computer on the pop-up menu in the String Output dialog box. Select the data rate and parity mode according to the specifications of the device being controlled. Many customers have found IP to serial converters to be a better choice, as they will function independent of display computer hardware and have no limits on quantity. with those converters, the WATCHOUT Output is set up to be TCP/IP instead of serial.
