Thanks Jonas! just to clarify do I need to address the settings at all in the Blackmagic Design settings in the control panel of Windows?
-No.
But you need it to verifiy that the card has a proper input into it, and at which resolution and refresh rate, before you set it in your Live Media item in WATCHOUT.There are options to set each SDI port to a different type and I have been trying to resolve the issue there.
- Not the right place.
Is there only one place that I need to worry about settings and that is at the Production computer for WATCHOUT where I select what source/ type of signal I am importing for watchout?
Yes, in your Live Media item for capture 1, 2, 3 & 4P45, 109, 136 in the manual. There is not much documentation in the WATCHOUT manual for live video feed integration so I have been struggling to resolve this.
- See above.
Thanks!

I would say 100ft/ 33m is way too long for a HDMI cable.
I would've used short HDMI->converter->100ft HDSDI instead.
Settings in Media Express has no impact in WATCHOUT.
But you need to use same setting in WATCHOUT Live Capture media.
Usually 1080i59.94, sometimes 1080i29.97.

Two completely separate systems and external control of both, maybe?

Tried to switch out the HDMI->SDI-converter?
Most likely suspect to your issues, I think.
Short cables when testing always helps, of course.

A few questions regarding eyefinity 6 with WO:
(haven't built a WO system in 3 years so I'm catching up)
I see many people getting Fire Pros (w9000), whereas I remember WO requiring only very basic graphic cards as the processing was performed on CPU rather than GPU, is there an advantage in using a much more expensive w9000 card?
If you're talking about a "beast" in terms of 6-output graphics cards, then AMD FirePro W9100 is it.
It supports up to 6 4K-outputs with 16GB GDDR5 memory.
http://www.amd.com/en-gb/products/graphics/workstation/firepro-3d/9100
The other end of the scale would be the AMD FirePro W600, mentioned by Jan above.
http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/workstation/firepro-display-wall/w600
Consumer 6-output cards is non-existent, at least for now, ASUS AMD Radeon cards were almost
the only choice here, but does not seem to make them anymore. All seem to rely on MST-hubs for
more than 4 outputs. A 4-output server might also be a wise choice, in terms of having a bit more headroom.
Always use Active MDP/DP-adapters and for safety, EDID Managers like DVI Parrot, for every output.
When using 2 mini-displayport to MST hubs are there frame locking issues between outputs/hubs, different latency between the two hubs or any timing issue vs using a 6 out FirePro (where I expect the 6 out to be frame locked)?
The 6-output FirePro W9100 (or any FirePro W7/8/9 card), is NOT frame-locked without a S400 sync card added.
NVidia Quadro K5200/K4200 can also be frame-locked via their GSync card.
It goes without saying that consumer grade cards cannot be frame-locked.
(waving in the blend area because of subtle timing differences in blend area where the 2 hub overlap, live input showing different lag depending on the hub displaying the PiP)
With MST-hubs you're on your own a bit, it should/might work, how reliable over time is another matter.
As always, thorough testing is required, with the hardware of choice.
Basically, is there any advantage in using the FirePro for an eyefinity6 setup? I want to build a beast to drive 6 outputs, money at this point is no object but the advantage need to be real and all output need to be driven by one display computer.
Please see above.

No, this is not possible, as of now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm sorry, but this is not possible, as of now.
May I ask why?

There is only drop-shadows possible in the text-editor of WATCHOUT, as of now.
The procedure described above works, however.

Hi all,
I just have a quick question about out putting signals and changing the display resolution.
I have a show coming up where I have 6 x 1920 x 1080 projectors . Two of these projectors will be projecting onto standard 16/9 screen surfaces. The other four will be projecting onto a skinny vertical screens
The resolutions of these screens are as follows:
Screen Set 1 = 2 x projectors with 2 x vertical projection surfaces 480w x 1080h.
Screen Set 2 = 2 x projectors with 2 x vertical projection surfaces 720w x 1080h.
The way to solve this, I think, is to create your content at the selected resolution ie 480x1080/720x1080 and place it centered in your 1920x1080 displays.
So my question to you is this. In watch out if I deselect the little checkbox that says "width & hight same as display resolution" I should only be seeing on that particular output the prescribed resolution above.
But at the moment it appears that it is stretching to full for 1920 x 1080 and not just give me my content in the middle of the screen with black bars left and right.
Yes, that's how it's supposed to work. It scales the the setting of your choice into your selected output, 1920x1080.
It will not output at 480x1080 or 720x1080.
Please see above.
Am i doing this right?
Please see above.
thanks

I would say yes.

You can only control a Display, not Production with WORrmote.

And your setup looks like?

I get the same error, asked the Support but they said "... strange ..."
With Windows 8 it was not the case.
Now I think it is because I have updated to 8.1 ???
Martin Pfeifer
No, it's not Windows 8.1, it's tweaking the system NOT properly according to our guidelines, I think.
Windows 7 is still preferred/recommended for a Display PC, as mentioned above.

I'm sorry,
but it's not possible to convert a WATCHOUT 5 show, into a WATCHOUT 4 show.
The other way around is of course no problem.

Julien,
please see the discussion above.
This is not an WATCHOUT issue, but a hardware and setup issue.
- Running WATCHOUT on a laptop as a Display computer, is a challenge.
- Running WATCHOUT on a MacBook Pro, in BootCamp, is a challenge.
- Adding Windows 8.1 does not help. Why?
See jfk's comment above:
"Been running a production laptop with such a setup (Intel / nVidia) for three years with Win 7 and no issues at all.
Work with your hardware vendor to determine where your computer preparation is awry"

"However, the type of image compression used by Hap is based on OpenGL technologies"
http://vdmx.vidvox.net/blog/hap
As WATCHOUT is DirectX/Direct3D-based, this would be an issue, right?

Well, I usually stick to "don't fix what's already working", if not having any issues with a properly running system.
If I start updating, I see to that I have time to fix any issues that might come from that update.
My 2 cents,

@Jonas and JFK
Why do you state that Datapath is needed for 3G-SDI (1080p50 or 1080p59.97)?
Blackmagic DeckLink 4K Extreme can do the same with half the cost.
Yes, you're correct, it can do that, for one input, not two as the VisionSDI2 does. Per input, the cost is approx the same.
Will be hard to fit 4 of those in a chassie, though...which was the question at hand here.
And the Blacmagic is not limited at FullHD as the Datapath, being able to deal with 4K resolution too (up to 4096x2160p25 and p30), altough it seems nobody here tested if 4K capture is working inside Watchout.
It's preliminary tested, but 4K input from this card does not work yet with WATCHOUT, as of now.
We are looking into this, it should be possible.
Stay tuned.

:-)
Thanks Jim for the answer, would be nice if Rob could verifiy.
But....
1) I view a multiviewer as a physical connection to the graphics card
2) with EDID Managers on every output I would guess there would be no issues.
