Uh. The Screenshaper? Quite old, like me!

I confirm this happening randomly. A freerun audio content sometimes stops as timeline hits a pause.

Machine workload (pre-split video clips versus proxy's)
screenshaper replied to Rogier Tuinte's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
Mike, maybe I am wrong, but I remember reccomendations not to exceed 4096 px in media width/height. Are that specs outdated now? -

MP4 is just a container that can wrap a lot of codecs. I assume you are using H.264 (AVC) video codec. Having each frame as a keyframe is not a good idea. The encoder is not allowed to do his job taking advantage of the repeating or moving parts of the pictures. This way, you need big bitrates and get poor quality. -
EBU recommends to use the word 1080i25 instead of the deprecated 1080i50. That are frames, non fields!

Can't wait for that!

This triggers the request for copy and paste buttons in the mask pane, like those already present in the geometry pane.

Encoding questions and ffmpeg advices

Claude, I'm afraid you have been misled by the ffmpeg documentation, often confusing, unclear and outdated. Ffmpeg thread options adjust how ffmpeg itself use multithreading decoding input files and encoding output files. This doesn't have any effect on the way a decoder will handle the resulting video. -

I'm using Blackmagic Decklinks (various models) from years with no issues. Maybe the problem is Watchout documentation on Decklinks is a little bit outdated and inaccurate. 2 more cents added.

H.264 and AVC1 are two different names for the same thing. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC

I would like to have an option to turn off frame blending by default.

AnalogWay Ascender (and also NexTage and brothers) do NOT have any external keying function. I think this is the only deficiency of this equipment that I consider the top of the class in any other aspect. Asked AnalogWay to work on it. The Barco Encore and ScreenPro II names the external keying feature as "cut & fill".

No. Mac users don't use free tools... Just kidding!

In my experience, I never installed Blackmagic drivers on a PC more than once. The driver discovers and manages multiple cards flawlessly. Never had any disruption on any aspect of Watchout due to BMD driver nor card installation. The only point to be aware of is PCI issues on motherboards that share PCI lanes across adjacent PCI slots

You can use both ways. Choose predefined settings and filters from simple requesters, or fill-in your turbocharged custom command line for ffmpeg...

I have recently found and liked FFAStrans. It processes watchfolders using ffmpeg, ffmbc (and avisinth for filtering) It's portable (no installation) and reliable. Developed for a national broadcaster. And it's free! http://www.ffastrans.com/

DeckLink 4K Extreme support RGB at any resolution. https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/decklink/techspecs/W-DLK-12 It is not clear for DeckLink Studio 4K

I think Blackmagic Declink 4K studio and Extreme can handle RGB 4:4:4 too. Tomorrow I will check...

Please, SMPTE TIMECODE nonDropNTSC 2hour wav file!
screenshaper replied to zilpuk's topic in WATCHOUT FORUM
If I remember well, Reaper (a DAW software) is able to generate and render timecode on wav, aiff and mp3 format. It is cheap enough and it has 30 or 60 days free trial at no cost. You can generate any TC track you need for free! -
Are Network setting of the Panasonics consistent with IP address of the producer? Same IP subnet?
