  1. I had the a brief opportunity to test the 8K pro card the other day. Antonio is correct the card now presents itself as a 4 channel card once the I/O configuration is set in the Decklink control panel. I managed to test it with 4 x 12G UHD@50 signals on screen with no dropped frames or limitations. First impressions were that the latency was low too, although I did not get good chance to measure it. Needs more testing, but first impressions are good.😊
  2. Hi all, Given enough PCI lanes and the latest drivers from Blackmagic, has anyone used the Decklink 8K Pro card with Watchout and seen if it now presents itself as 4 unique inputs? Originally the drivers for this card meant it only presented as a single input, despite having 4 x 4k input connectors. The latest drivers and control panel should allow configuration and drivers for 4 independent 4k inputs. That's the theory, just wondered if anyone has seen it in practice.

The ability the control conditional layers from within the Watchout Production software beyond the check boxes in the preferences (not very user friendly in a show situation) Add the function to control cues on the timeline. In conduction, the ability to monitor status of the conditions perhaps adding this to the status windows options. Using conditional layers controlled internally that could be linked to inputs and/or expressions would many versatile internal scripting opportunities. Conditional layers can be put to good use for controlling loop states and multi branch timelines in live shows. Anybody else see the potential here?
  6. I appreciate that once you have known, good workflow, changing can be problematic and time consuming particularly under time pressures. If you can, it might be worth checking out ffmpeg which has support for HAP file encoding. Advantages being it's free, exists on Mac and Windows, does not require outdated Quicktime installs. Of course it does not plug into the Adobe software set but there are very good front end GUI's that allow drop folders, batch encoding, presets and so on. Check out myFFmeg, I have been using this on both Mac (ff-Work) and Windows and it rapidly became my goto encoder package. As I don't use the Adobe software set I've not looked to see if there is a direct plugin or filter that allows Adobe to access the ffmpeg encoders. See what you think.

Vollmers, I can't really share a script since I can't create one in 6.2 with links to external URL's for images, that's the problem. 6.2 won't let you add an external URL to an image served by an external web via the Add Image Proxy method. Could you try to add a URL via the Add Image Proxy method and let me know if it works for you? Try it in version 6.1.6 and then in 6.2 you'll see what I mean. I could use the Dynamic image server but it is too slow and won't support the number of images I need to deal with.
  9. zackboyd Using the Dynamic image server would be an option but it is too slow and unreliable once you ask it to serve more that 10 - 20 images at once. In 6.1.6 I can pull in 180 images in around 6-8 seconds from an external web server hosted on the local network (small image about 500px square each). The DIS would just choke on this.
  10. I wonder if anyone has come across this in version 6.2+ or is it just me. I'm working on a script that relies on a lot of dynamic still images. In previous versions from V5 onward it was possible to use an external URL pointing to an image entered into 'Add Image Proxy'. This would call the image each time the script runs, a perfect solution. However I've just tried the same process in version 6.2 and 6.2.1 but after entering a valid URL in the Add Image Proxy dialog box, the media cannot be added. Clicking the OK to add the media results in a “The specified File/Image doesn't exist” error. This process works in versions 5 to 6.1.6 , is this a change or an oversight in 6.2? Tim
  11. Hi All, I tend to avoid command line interfaces whenever I can and look for good graphical user interfaces. You might want to take a look at FFworks for MAC http://www.ffworks.net or myffmeg for windows http://www.myffmpeg.com as GUI front ends for ffmpeg. Batch encoding, watch folders, HAP support including chunking and pretty quick with control over multi thread encoding are all useful features I use a lot. The Save as separate audio files is particularly useful since HAP with audio is currently broken in 6.2. Not free like the command line but quite affordable considering the comprehensive user interface.
  12. Hi, I have just spent the past couple of days experimenting with version 6.2.1 and a variety of audio interface units to test how they work out. I can confirm that there still appears to be a looping problem as piccinaezio suggests. Files will freerun/loop 2 maybe 3 times then mute until the loop is triggered again. However the shorter the file the less problem of muting on loop. I also observed audio degradation, cracking and breakup which only appeared when cues were set to freerun/loop. This got worse the more files were played simultaneously. Quality and muted loop problems persisted regardless of audio or video/audio format type, 2ch and multichannel. MP3, AAC, WAV were tried as well as different sample rates, same problem. Tried various types of audio interface, MOTU, Sapphire, Dante Virtual Soundcard, Yamaha PCIe Dante Accelerator card all setup as ASIO devices all the same result. Can't see how ASIO4ALL will help if I'm already using the ASIO drivers but willing to be corrected. Also noticed some very strange channel mapping when using the MOTU units and audio drop out, although the latter is a known problem with some Intel motherboards and USB audio interfaces. Any thoughts and suggestions welcomed.
  13. Hi Miro, Out of interest did you use the same capture card type (Datapath?) for the SDI - NDI conversion as was fitted to the WATCHMAX? Please update this thread once you have had a chance to test the BirdDog unit, very interested to find out how these work out. Thanks Tim

    I really think you are missing a trick if you don't go all the way and add NDI output functions to Watchout. With NDI in and out, Watchout would become an even more powerful tool for use in IP TV production environments. Some of your competitors have working NDI output functions already. Any plans to add NDI output?
  15. You seem to have omitted to answer the question about when we'll see 6.2. It was talked about back in February at ISE and we are still waiting. Come on guys.... Here's another question for you, are there plans to add NDI output capability from Watchout displays? This could be very useful when integrating Watchout playback engine within a productions system for broadcast. Now that we have brought into the whole NDI workflow, we have found so many ways it can be put to use. It seems only sensible to enable outputs as well.

Has anyone successfully projection mapped a 3d object with a minimum of 2 projector, then rotated the real world object and linked the rotation to the 3d model rotation tween layer in Watchout while keeping the mapping calibration? Would this work? A typical example would be a car on a revolve, 3d projection mapped from 2 projectors, the revolve would be turning slowly. The encoded positional data of the revolve would be linked to the rotation tween track for the model of the car in WO so the model mimicked the position of the actual car. Would the initial projector calibration stay valid through a full 360 degree rotation. How would the masking work? I've seen this done with other media servers but budget demands we find an affordable solution, hence the question if WO will do it. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. I've testing a BM Decklink Duo 2 today, 1080 @25p, @30p are both not working however @24p works fine! 50i and 60i are good, i'll test the 720 resolutions tomorrow. Wound the drivers back to 10.6.4 which was the first driver to support the Duo 2 card but that made no difference. Nothing like having to do things the hard way, being stuck between hardware and software vendors that both claim its not their problem.

When using a Datapath card what settings are used in the Live video setup in Watchout to get it work? I don't remember seeing Displayport in the list of input types and there's no 3840 @60 or 3840@30 resolution listed? Why would a Datapath card work where as a Blackmagic card not work, they both capture 4k in one form or another. This is the info I'm after. Thanks

  21. Has anyone succeeded in capturing a 4k source into Watchout. I recently tried using a BlackMagic Decklink extreme 4k card and while I could see the input 4k HDMI signal within BM Media Express software I had no luck getting WO to see the signal. As the live video setup in WO only shows video resolutions up to 1080p I set the drop down to other and entered 3840 x 2160 in the size box at the bottom, I'm guessing this is not the way to do it as it didn't work. As a test I changed the incoming source to 1080p and this displayed correctly once the correct frame size and refresh was selected. I'm guessing WO does not understand 4k as a valid input yet. Anyone have any input here? Excuse the pun!! Tim

  23. For your information and as a little nudge, we've just been told that NDI both input and output will feature in the next d3 server release, it's in beta right now.
  24. Thanks for the reply, that makes perfect sense. We'll look at optimising and rearranging things within the 16k texture box limit.
  25. How about adding NDI support directly within Watchout, save having to jump through hoops.
