  1. JFK I do get this, however I'm looking for inspiration as to how to implement it! Watchnet seems to talk to the IP cluster directly I was wondering how to talk to the display cluster protocol using a routine or something! This is beyond my current ability and I need pointing in the right direction if you have any clues as to how to achieve it. Oli
  2. Guys, I'm having to do this any one actually achieved a slider control yet?
  3. Simone I'm just wondering how you actually controlled the speed of playback
  4. So just to clarify: Firstly we need an input say DMX or Midi to be read by a program and calculate a number between 0.8 and 1.2 based upon value sampled 0-255 for DMX so =0.8+(DMX/638) would return 0.8-1.199 we then need a program to continuously write to the autostart .txt file and set the number t (x) to 0.8-1.2 or can we set an external variable to the text file? I'm sorry but my programming skills are rudimentary at best! Authenticate 1 setrate (x)
  5. Hi Guys I need some advice/help[, I'm trying to manually & smoothly adjust playback speed using an external input say DMX or MID. I can't use a time code link. The music is analog and variable speed and I need to adjust to ensure the video stays with the program. any ideas? (Need approx plus or minus 3 or so percent maybe 5%) Can't find anything but seem to recall something buried deep in the system that allows this. (there isn't a convenient speed tween!) Many thanks in advance! Oli
  6. Like many people I’m using non standard resolutions for LED structures. Has anyone got any bright ideas for confidence monitors? (A DVI DA reading the EDID on a novastar controller results in a blank screen. ) One idea is setting up a camera watching the screen in question. But I’m looking for a ‘nice’ solution if anyone has any ideas. I’m running a Quad head server direct to the Novastars DP to DVI our of W7100 cards.
  7. I ran the installer several times install, repair, remove etc. And yes the WIBU installer was being difficult and stalling. Not sure why. In essence the installer I downloaded from WIBU systems looks completely different but it worked and that’s the main thing.
  8. Interesting I had to do this on a new install Downloaded 21/03/2016 V6.2.1 so its obviously not yet fixed, (Win 10 on a Production machine) It worked a treat! not sure why the latest WIBU isn't packaged with the latest download but hey ho.
  9. I have the same problem Media express sees the signal but it does not appear in WOdisplay
  10. I found this How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10 not sure if it helps anyone Oli
  11. I use an i7 Macbook air 11" with SSD also an old 17" MBP i7 with SSD and they are both great. I have all my creative software on the MAC platform
  12. I use this resolution regularly, the problem is, as explained in many places on here, with the data rate. If you have the media, find out what the maximum data rate is for the file you are trying to play and then work back from there. Does the graphics card handle it? Is the bus fast enough? Can the cpu decode the data fast enough? Finally can the data be acquired off the HDD fast enough? If the media is not under your control, use Jonas's PC specs as a guide and go for the best /latest and test thoroughly. Look here: http://forum.dataton.com/topic/734-watchout-5-technical-notes/ If it is under your control and a one shot show, I have used quite old dual head cards with core2duo based pc successfully for this, but you have to choose the data rates very carefully....
  13. The first thing that springs to mind is the lenses. Unless your projection distance is very long the zoom bracketing of most lenses would rule out using the same projector for both situations. if you have a very long throw then you may well get away with a single as the focal plane may be adequate- like cameras a long zoom has a greater focus depth than a wide angle.
  14. Live video latency - an eternal issue This subject gets brought up at almost every opportunity for me to sell the system into a show, and my clients have lots of 'other systems' available to them. To date I've managed to keep using analogue cameras with analogue capture, small frame sizes and a small audio delay I've kept it really low, but latency increases with processing and inevitably I'll have to go digital in the camera chain. With the firepro SDK and direct memory access this seems to be almost the holy grail. Whilst I've read the article in the thread about the SDI card about the need to process the video via Watchout to manipulate the tweens etc, would it be possible to swap the manipulation round and for video capture only to plug software into the GPU directly and make the instruction live? - I'm happy to have a special case limited functionality maybe opacity position and scale. Alternatively a call to Datapath to implement watchout instructions within the capture card?? I'm sure we, as a group. are a major buyer of their cards It would be a really major step forward and make my life in front of the client a bit easier.
  15. Hi Chaps My turn, How about Midi input being able to be mapped to an 'Fxx' key? so pressing a midi key on a controller you can directly jump to a point of the main timeline? Two benefits: one there are only 12 'F' keys and you could theoretically have many more, and the buttons are nice and big on the midi controllers :-)) Oliver
  16. I have all three Korg, Behringer and Akai. My weapon of choice is the Behringer as the sliders are long and smooth so I can do manual fades easily. The Korg is great because its really small if you prefer to trigger the timeline and let watchout do the fade via a tween. the Akai is well built and has a nice 'feel' .
  17. Hi Jonas I understand the resources issue here, but is there any way of calculating when you will run out? I've looked around and I'm going to buy the firepro solution with the s400 but can I get away with buying a quad core cpu and at a lower speed as I'm only going to drive 4 outputs from the one PC. How far can I go before I run out of resources to decode?? Or how do I work out the head room based on bitrate etcetc? Oliver
  18. Hi Everyone This is a new one on me. I've just upgraded to V5.1 and dutifully put 'watchout display' in the startup menu as per normal. Only problem is that I now have a cursor mid screen and two instances of Watchout display running. One as Watchpoint, and one as Watchout display if I hit esc as per normal I see the desktop briefly with a window of the normal watchout display but watchpoint immediately takes the screen back with cursor centre screen and no IP address etc. the PC is not going online but I can take control, It's bizarre any ideas what I've done wrong? Or more importantly any bright ideas on how to fix it so I can avoid a live oopsydaisy! I followed the same procedure with all my display PC's and two are doing this and the others are fine....................? Thanks for looking
