  1. You'll need to do overlap (without edgeblend) in WATCHOUT, and the edgeblend in Analog Way, in order to be able to add/use the live inputs properly in Analog Way, not both. /jonas
  2. This is the example autostart.txt script text-file from WATCHPAX. It can be used as a starting point for creating an autostart file for stand-alone start of a WATCHOUT Display computer or cluster. Please also see the 5.5.1 Release Notes : http://www.dataton.com/files/watchout/support/Release_Notes_5.5.1.html A script named autostart.txt, located in the same folder as the WATCHOUT application, will run automatically when the display software is launched. This can contain display computer protocol commands, which will then be applied automatically every time the software is started. A new "Edit Startup Script" command has been added to the WATCHOUT display software, accessible locally and from the production software (through the Remote Access command). This provides a shortcut to editing the startup command script file, which can be used to define initial settings for a display computer or cluster. This can be used to load shows automatically, and similar functions available in the WATCHOUT display computer protocol. A new "Re-launch" command has been added to the WATCHOUT display software, accessible locally and from the production software (through the Remote Access command). This is useful after editing the startup script in order to see the effect of your changes. /jonas autostart.txt ---------------------------------- ; ; autostart.txt ; ; This is an example script file on how to use different commands to control the ; start-up and other behavior of the WATCHPAX. ; ; To enable a command simply remove the semicolon sign at the start of the line in front of the command. ; To disable a command just add a semi-colon at the beginning of the line in front of the command. ; Please remember that you can only have one command on each line. ; ; See each individual command in the WATCHOUT User's Guide for more details. ; ; ------------------------------------------------------------------ ; ; This is a small example on a scrip that automatically loads and starts a show named "MyShow" ; ; Note: If the show contains of more then one computer then this script should only run on ; the computer designated as the cluster master and not on any of the other members of the cluster. ; The cluster master will automatically send the load command to all members of the cluster. ; ; authenticate 1 ; setLogoString "The show will begin shortly" ; delay 5000 ; load "MyShow" ; wait ; run ; ; ------------------------------------------------------------------ ; ; These are some examples on how to set a fixed IP number on the WATCHOUT computer. ; You only need to run this script once. 4. As far as tested, yes. /jonas
  5. "Why not feed every S400-card with its own genlock? just curious" Partly because video genlock does not equal graphics card framelock. One AMD FirePro S400 (or NVidia QuadroSync) sync card and it's corresponding graphics cards 1st output, acts as Timing MASTER for a system, all other outputs and their sync & graphic cards, acts as Timing CLIENTS. They are connected together through short RJ45 Cat5 cables, not running TCP/IP, but sync clock signal. If a video genlock signal is required, it should normally ONLY be connected to the Timing MASTER's sync card. /jonas
  6. I'll suggest you skip doing keystone in the projector/s. Do it in WATCHOUT geometry correction instead. /jonas
  7. Hi J. Hopp, Make sure that the S400 settings are correct and complete: 1) Go to the AMD Catalyst Pro software on the first system and set output 1 (i.e. Display computer 1/Display 1) and make it "Timing Server" 2) Check all other display outputs boxes as "timing clients" 3) Check RJ45 connections as "timing client" 4) Connect the second system with RJ45 cable to the "Timing Client" RJ45 output of the first system 5) On the second system select the connected RJ45 as "Timing Server" 6) Check all display outputs on the second system boxes as "Timing Clients" 7) In WATCHOUT, select the Display that will be syncmaster (i.e. Display computer 1/Display 1), open Display properties -> Advanced and check the box "Use as synchronisation chain master" There is no purpose for the "House Sync (Genlocked)" unless the outputs need to be synced with video-sources. If so, do NOT connect the genlock signal to all S400 sync-cards, only to the selected "Timing Server" S400 card. When the hardware side of things is setup, WATCHOUT should adhere to this. /jonas
  8. No, it is not possible, as described above. "Crossfire means using 2 graphics card as ONE, faster card, with the output/s coming from ONE of them" /jonas
  9. By make sure there are no other Programs/services than WATCHOUT Display and Codemeter in Autostart. Run->msconfig->Startup tab. /jonas
  10. Most likely not, since R9/R7-series were launched a couple of weeks ago... http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/R9280XDC2T3GD5V2/ http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/R9280XDC23GD5V2/ They look physically the same, so I can't see why they wouldn't work with WATCHOUT, as a replacement for the ASUS HD7970DC23GD5: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/HD7970DC23GD5/ /jonas
  11. Please look above: http://forum.dataton.com/topic/445-how-to-create-manual-display-on-stage-window/?p=1550&do=findComment&comment=1550 In your case, create content at 1152x768 pixels size, placing it on stage, on the Display, in the upper left corner. /jonas
  12. Maybe this thread answers your question? http://forum.dataton.com/topic/1029-amd-firepro-w600-vs-asus-hd-7970/?hl=w600 Specifically this post: http://forum.dataton.com/topic/1029-amd-firepro-w600-vs-asus-hd-7970/?p=4026 /jonas

  15. This will put unnecessary load on the graphics card. Separate power is always prefered/recommended. I would not recommed to do it this way. I would prefer to have ONE output DVI (or DisplayPort/MiniDisplayPort->DVI active adapter) -> EDID Manager (DVI Parrot)-> -> DVI distribution amplifier-> 1) DVI over Fiberoptic TX to Projector -> 2) DVI to 23" LCD screen for monitor This way you are not relying on Windows/AMD drivers for the splitting of screens. Much more reliable in my experience.
  16. Steve, this is done in the Display Specifications dialog box, P158 in the WATCHOUT 5.2 manual. Deselect “Width and Height same as Display Resolution”. You'll have to calculate how much smaller the 32" are than the 47" first. (preferably use the "real" image size) It seems to be approx. 68 % i.e. 1920 x 0.68 = 1305.6 and 1080 x 0.68 = 734.4 Stage Position and Size. Determines the position and dimension of the display in the Stage Window. Normally, the dimension here matches the physical resolution of the display. You can override this by deselecting “Width and Height same as Display Resolution”, allowing you to enter different values. Doing so will make WATCHOUT scale the image to match the resolution. ◆ HINT: This is particularly useful if you have to play a show made for a specific resolution on projectors that can’t handle that resolution Or if you need to apply density scaling on different physical size screens with same resolution/same physical size screens with different resolution. /jonas

  18. Hi, I believe DigiMagic from Singapore, has an office in Bangkok and in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia. Donald Lim is a longtime WATCHOUT Producer/User. If they have equipment there has to be checked. http://www.digimagic.com.sg/ /jonas
  19. Hi All! Just a quick note on the Kiss-Box DMX1TR - DMX-512 Transceiver V3 issues some of you have experienced. These are now fixed, by the fast working people at Kiss-Box in Netherlands! :-) Just head over to http://www.kissbox.nl/ for an update of the firmware. 20. Jean-Luc, There are many things that can cause this, but the most common thing to suspect is the connection to your display device. That is if the computers in question is properly configured & tweaked as per our guidelines. How is this setup designed? Length of cable? Cat5 Extender? EDID Manager used on the output/s? /jonas
  21. The simple answer is - Yes. /jonas

  23. Hi all, Just a heads up on the new, cheap Blackmagic Decklink Mini Recorder capture card. http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/decklink/techspecs#35424 While on the surface it looks like a perfect replacement for a Blackmagic Intensity Pro, with one HDMI input and one 1.5G HDSDI input (not to be used simultaneously), it bring some caveats. The HDMI input ONLY accepts an YUV-signal, NOT a RGB-signal, as Intensity Pro can, meaning most computer sources are not possible to use with this card. If Blackmagic intend to fix this or not, is not known as of now, but until they do, proceed with caution. Hope this helps, /jonas
